Colonizing the Alfa

Eleonora and Calista had to milk cows before men bring corns into the byre. Yelling in the field outside announced that something unusual happens. Calista left a milk bucket and went out to see what's going on. Yamamoto was running before greenhouses throbbing a wooden winch.

"The planet is near!" Yamamoto yelled. "Come to the main platform after lunch to hear more details."

People were getting out from the greenhouses surprised to the news they just heard. Some of them ran for Yamamoto to ask him for more pieces of information, but he ran further to the grassland without paying attention to anybody. Others thought Yamamoto was joking, so they didn't pay much attention to his yelling.

"What's going on?" Eleonora went out of the byre.

"Looks like we're heading to the end of the trip," Calista got into byre. "Let's finish the job. Men are bringing corns."

Nomo, Jerzy, Nikola, Xinjin and Sven pulled a wain of corns to the byre.

"Did you see Yamamoto?" Xinjin went in the byre.

"Let him go," Calista brought out milk buckets. "We'll find out after lunch."

"We can find out something more interesting," Nikola didn't take a look from Calista's chests.

"We can," Calista agreed. "But not together."

"You're wrong," Nikola hugged her waist.

"Hands off!" She pulled out of his embrace and slapped him. "Let's go, Nora. We finished the job." She raised her nose and gone while the other men laughed to Nikola.

After lunch, ten thousand people gathered at the main platform waiting to hear the news Yamamoto yelled through the whole spaceship. All of them were looking to the outer space seen through the big windows. There was a wide sickle among millions of stars. A loud sound of a drum interrupted murmur of the crowd and Seryozha, Johanna and George went on the stage.

"People, we have important news!" Johanna said enthusiastically. "We are heading to the end of our long trip!" The crowd replied by loud applaud and exclamations, Johanna showed them to hush. "We're heading to the planet we called Alpha, the most similar to the Earth. Our observations say that it has sturdy lands and seas and oceans of water. It orbits around the Alpha star on the distance that provides all the condition for the existence of Earth-like life. It has one moon orbiting around, just like the Earth. Colour of the planet is blue with white mottles most likely clouds, which means that there is oxygen in the atmosphere. So, there is a possibility of the existence of life. Also, there is a possibility that life already exists on the Alpha, but we'll be able to see that after we head closer to the planet. Seryozha will explain the technical details of researching conditions for colonizing the planet."

The crowd applauded Johanna's presentation.

"Dear all," Seryozha began his presentation. "Before we land to the Alpha, we'll send robots we constructed on the Earth. They will explore its ground surface, soil, air and water structure. They will send us detailed pieces of information after they carry out all needed explorations. If life is existing on the planet, they will explore the characteristics and structures of living beings. They will search for prospective intelligent life and civilizations. They will explore the existence of natural resources like oil and gas, as well as for ores such as iron, copper, aluminium, zinc, mercury and others. The most important thing is the exploration of the condition for growing plants and breeding animals we took from the Earth. And the possibility for agronomy and animal husbandry development. Gorge will explain technical details of landing and colony construction."

while the crowd applauded, George took the position for the speech.

"After you have heard the details of the preparations, I will explain the landing details and founding of the colony. If there are conditions of life on the Alpha, we'll land in the stages. As first, we have to decrease the spaceship weight. As all of you know, we took the Earth soil and embedded into the spaceship floor to grow plants required for animal feeding. That's how we provided agronomy and animal husbandry for the longtime travel through space."

The crowd loudly approved.

"So," George continued. "At the first stage, it's needed to land the weightiest things, the soil cubes. Every single soil cube has the rocket engines which has to ease the landing. Every engine has enough fuel just for landing, not more. That's all could provide before leaving the Earth. After soil landing, we'll be able to land the spaceship. After we land down successfully, we'll need to decompose spaceship. We have to convert the cabins into the houses. Spaceship ceiling lamps that provide the light for plant growth will be placed into the houses. Tesla's wireless energy tower that already provides energy for the spaceship will be placed into the centre of the settlement. That's how we'll establish the colony."

The crowd applauded loudly. After applause and ovations quite, Johanna asked if someone had something to say about the landing. Sancho called for the word.

"I think, and I'm sure that most of us think, that Anglosaxons, Russians, Europeans, Chinese and Koreans shouldn't be able to lead the colony."

A loud rumour came after Sancho's words. Blacks and Latinos approved, but Whites, Chinese and Koreans deprecated.

"This is not the moment to divide us," Seryozha rebuked.

"It is," Sancho continued. "You have destroyed the Earth after your insensitive hunger for natural resources."

"We didn't start that war!" Deng Xin protested. "War has been obtruded to us!"

"I approve Sancho's words," Vivien took the word. "Your hunger for oil, gas, gold and diamonds made us Africans suffer on our own homeland. You have to be under control, cause you'll become mad if there are natural resources. We don't want oil! Oil is the devil's pee! We don't want gas! Gas is the devil's pee!"

"You're wrong!" Gerchard stood up. "The fact that we are white doesn't mean that we think in the way of those who led the Earth to the catastrophe! On the other hand, there's no need for oil and gas. Tesla gave us the wireless energy tower. That will provide energy."

The debate lasted until dinner. But it doesn't affect the preparations for landing and establishing the new home for the human race.

hi @vasigo
nice story! If the earth won't explode by collision with another planet, I imagine an end just like you described it !! I wonder if we would be able to land everything !!
Congratulations and thank you for sharing with us

Thanks. I'm glad you like it.

what a imaginative brain you got pal, nice. :)

Interesting story. The never-ending dilemma of human survival. How will we destroy our planet, where will we go after that, and who will continue our legacy?
Would the world be better off without us?
Judging by the repeated mistakes even in our own time (let alone those made in times so remote we have little to no record of those), I don't think any attempt to rebuild will go very well.
To begin with, most likely the ones to survive will be the powerful, that is the one most likely responsible for whatever mess we end up creating.
WWI was supposed to be the war to end all wars, it just became the beginning of the technologically advanced slaughter machines.
By now we should have the resources and knowledge to stop poluting and share our territories peacefully, and yet everything indicates that many more wars will come.
