On Sunday January 6th @ 12:05pm CST we will see the Chargers @ Ravens game unfold, this should prove a very exciting game to watch for sure. After all the Chargers have been very consistent in their play over the entire season, but can they beat the Ravens especially in Baltimore? The Chargers lost to the Ravens 10-22 when they last played on 12/22/18 at home, has anything changed that would make the experts think they have a chance to win? I don't think so. Even when you look at the betting lines I think it reinforces the fact that everyone expects the Ravens to win this game.
As I write this article the over/under is 42 points, and Baltimore is a -3.5 favorite. I think Baltimore being favored by 3.5 tells us that the experts are confident that the Ravens will win the game by at least 7+ points, but are trying to keep the line small in the hopes they can capitalize on the "emotional bettors".
The Over/Under of 42 is interesting because the last time they met up they scored a total 32 pts (Chargers 10 - Ravens 22). With the Chargers heading into the Wildcard game with 7 guys hurt on the defensive side of the ball, I really think they will struggle to slow down the Ravens. And even though Melvin Gordon is expected to suit up, he is dealing with an ankle sprain and I think this will certainly affect his productivity.
I think when you consider Gordon being banged up and you couple that with his performance against the Raven's over his career (0-2, 30 for 95 rush yds, 8 for 20 recv yds) this shows that the Ravens now how to take Gordon out of the game for the most part, and this will then force Phillip Rivers to shoulder the load here. And that doesn't bode well for the Chargers given River's career versus the Ravens .. (3-5).
If I was betting on this particular game I would take the Ravens -3.5, and under on the OU of 42pts.
At any rate this should be an exciting game to watch, will Rivers and Company outrun their historical performance versus the Ravens? Only time will tell ... lace em' up boys and get after it!!
