Drew Brees is an American football player for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League. Brees was born on January 15, 1979 in Austin, Texas. Brees throughout his childhood dreamed of playing baseball in college and to go to college in the state of Texas. But, Brees played football as well and came to a realization in high school that college baseball was not an option because schools were only pursuing him to play football. He torn his ACL in his junior year of high school which cause many schools to stop recruiting him. He returned his senior year, and led Westlake high school to a state championship along with earning Texas High School 5A Most Valuable Offensive player.
College:
Brees chose to attend Purdue university because of their recognization as a great acedemic school and also because all the Texas colleges spurned him when he got injured. Brees went on to have an outstanding college career at Purdue, leading the Boilermakers to the Rose Bowl in 2001, their first in school history. With Brees at quarterback, Purdue was a perrenial top 25 team, and led Brees to achieve some astounding acomplishments. He was a two time Heisman award finalist in 1999 and 2000. In 1999 Brees was a Davey O' Brien finalist (given to the best quarterback in college football) A 3-time Big Ten academic All-American. In 2000, Brees was awarded the Maxwell award in 2000 (given to the nation's top player each season). While at Purdue he broke 2 NCAA records, 13 Big Ten records, and 19 Purdue records.

NFL Career:
Drew Brees fell in the 2001 NFL draft, and was selected with the 1st pick of the second round (32nd overall) By the San Diego Chargers. Brees first started in the 2002 NFL season. Then lost the job in 2003 to Doug Flutie only to regain it in 2004. The Chargers drafted high in the 2004 draft and got Phillip Rivers so Brees's exit from San Diego was a conclusion. Brees stunned in 2004 leading the Chargers to the playoffs and to win the AFC West. Earning 2004 NFL comeback player of the year and a Pro Bowl appearance. In 2005, Brees retained his starter position but in the last game of the season, he tore his labrum and had rotator cuff damage. The Chargers offered him a 5 year 50 million dollar deal to which Brees declined. In free agency that offseason, Brees signed a 6 year 60 million dollar deal with the New Orleanes Saints. Many gave Brees a slim chance to return from his devestating injury, but in the 2006 season, he returned. The Saints had been a middling team before Brees's arrival, Brees then led the Saints to 6 playoff appearances, the team only had 4 in it's entire team history before his arrival. Drew Brees also led the Saints to their first Super Bowl in franchise history in Super Bowl 44 in 2009, which he earned Super Bowl MVP. Brees is a 11-time Pro Bowler (2004, 2006 ,2008 ,2009 ,2010 ,2011 ,2012 ,2013 , 2014, 2016, 2017), 1-time first team All-Pro (2006), 2-time NFL Offensive Player of the year (2008, 2011), 2010 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the year. Brees has broken 26 NFL records, and 36 Saints franchise records. Currently, he ranks 3rd in NFL history in passing yards (70,445) , passing touchdowns (488) , and pass attempts (9,294). While ranking 2nd all time in completions (6,222) in NFL history.
