Recovered Ground Zero flag to be unveiled at 9/11 museum
After being lost for more than a decade, the iconic flag that was hoisted above Ground Zero after the 9/11 terrorist attacks will be unveiled Thursday at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City. The flag went missing within hours of being captured in a photograph that shows three firefighters raising the flag above rubble. It finally turned up in Washington state in 2014 after a TV show detailed its history, including that it had vanished. It was authenticated and the original owner donated the flag to the museum this week.
