Tonight is the first round of the NFL Draft for the 2019 season. I will be watching live in hopes to see some Offensive Line help picked for the Minnesota Vikings as it's desperately needed. The Vikings have all the other pieces in place to make a strong push for a championship this year apart from their incredibly weak O line. It's their achilles heel and other teams know it.
What else might the Vikings do?
Defensive Tackle
I could see the Vikings going with a Defensive Tackle with their 1st round pick as it's kind of a need and if there's a run on Offensive linemen before the Vikings pick, they may see the next available O-line guy as a 2nd rounder. With the draft being deep with Defensive talent and the circumstances changing available O-linemen I could see the Vikings adapting to this strategy.Trade Up
There have been a lot of rumors about various players getting traded during this offseason. Players have garnered attention from other teams and with salary cap being a potential problem, the Vikings may be looking to move some expensive talent for draft picks. Rick Spielman has been known to move around a lot in drafts. I wouldn't be surprised to see Trae Waynes traded for a pick (2nd rounder) that the Vikings could use to trade back in for an additional 1st round pick.Trade Back
If the scenario plays out with a run on talented O-lineman, I could see the Vikings trading out of the 1st round to gather more picks. Spielman has done this in the past as well and if the team thinks they can get better talent with two 2nd rounders than one 1st, this could happen.
Obviously something else may happen... nobody really knows and that's part of the fun of watching! Even the team has no idea how things will play out, what players will be picked up in front of them by other teams, or who will fall when it comes time for them to pick!
Trade up to get Christian Ponder 2.0... I am a true Vikings fan, we will over reach, we will get a decent draft grade, and get the fan base excited, but the players will be underwhelming.

I am super excited as well!! Titans fan here the Titans could use help anywhere on the field to be honest. Similar to the Vikings, the Titans could use help up on the offensive and defensive line. The Vikings pick one spot before the Titans at 18, The Titans are 19. Interesting to see that! I will be eagerly watching tonight! Good luck to your team :)

I lived in Nashville for a bit and was impressed with the Titans fans there. They were always friendly and respectful. You guys definitely could use help protecting Mariota. I'm curious what Titans fans thought of Josh Kline? Anyway, enjoy the draft! Good luck to your team as well!

Yes if the Titans can become very elite, not very good, but elite, on the line for a couple of seasons I'm curious to see what Mariota would do.
Josh Kline was a solid starter for the Titans nothing bad to say about him, I believe the Titans felt that they upgraded slightly with Rodger Staffold so playing time possibly would have dipped had he remained in Nashville. He's solid as it gets.
Kline was actually a High School State Champion Heavyweight wrestler in Ohio which is Super impressive to me! I am a former wrestler myself and thats some high level athleticism!

Cool, that's good to hear. I hope Kline works out for us. Letting him leave in FA makes complete sense when you consider the upgrade to Saffold. That guy alone should make your line noticeably better this year. 😎

Quite the draft! Between the draft and free agency we've got a handful of new Offensive Lineman to rebuild that line with. We also grabbed a DT and had a ton of trades both up and down as I predicted!
That Irv Smith Jr. pick in the 2nd round has me wondering about Kyle Rudolph's future with the team after this year (which is the final year in his current contract). Either way, lots going on and lots to look forward to in the future!
