The Eagles have now moved to 8-1 after demolishing the Broncos on Sunday 51-23. They continue to hold the best record in their division, the conference and the league as a whole.
The game was played masterfully, and it's hard t find any negatives from the way the Eagles hounded Brock Osweiler all day, but I 'll try.
Like: The Tight ends: Losing Zach Ertz for the game is no fun, he is Caron Wentz's favorite target, and is having a career season so far. Having said that, the other tight ends stepped up in a BIG way. Trey Burton and Brent Celek played great and showed the true depth the Eagles have at each position. They sparked a monstrous first half and accounted for 80 receiving yards (41 for Celek and 39 for Burton) and a touchdown (Burton, on a 27 yard pass from Wentz). Obviously the Eagles want their leading receiver back, but Burton and Celek played a great game of fill-in for him.
Like: Jay Ajayi: Thank Miami. The Dolphins made a terrible trade last week at the deadline, by trading Ajayi for a fourth-round pick. He has payed dividend after only 1 game! He rushed for 77 yards on 8 carries, and had an electrifying 46-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Again, thanks Miami.
Like: The Eagles Defense: They stopped everything: they had two interceptions, three sacks, and allowed 1.8 yards per run.
Dislike: Jake Elliott: Again, dislike is a strong word here, I'm more concerned about him. Last week he missed two extra points, and this week he missed one. He can't miss from long-range, but it's those extra points he just can't seem to nail. As per usual, they didn't cost the team anything, but with the toughest remaining schedule in the league following their bye week, it may not always be the case.
The Eagles are off next week, and return the 19th to face Dallas in Dallas in what is sure to be a heated rivalry between two hot NFC North teams.
