Toronto Maple Leafs is ready with enough rest for the game
On Wednesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs (4-4-2) will look to stop their four-game skid when they host the Philadelphia Flyers (5-2-1) at Scotiabank Arena. The Flyers are 2-3 in their last five games and play Tuesday night as well. Puck drop on Wednesday is at 7 PM ET.
Toronto has the benefit of health and rest for this game. They’re coming off of a 4-3 overtime loss against the Anaheim Ducks, who were on a seven-game losing streak at the time. Toronto’s three goals came from Denis Malgin, Calle Jarnkrok and Auston Matthews, and at the opposite side of the ice, backup netminder Erik Kallgren was busy making 35 saves—the most saves he’s made in his three starts this season. He’s replacing injured Matt Murray and will likely be in net again on Wednesday.
Philadelphia Flyers are the favorites until now
The Flyers, meanwhile, had a game Tuesday night against the New York Rangers and will be employing netminder Carter Hart for that one. On Saturday, the Flyers faced the Carolina Hurricanes and managed to keep up with them until overtime, when Carolina defenseman Brent Burns netted the winner just over four minutes into OT. Unfortunately for Philly, they’ll be without the services of LW James van Riemsdyk and C Sean Couturier for a while, as both are recovering from surgery.
