I don't understand why someone was able to steal the coins. Why were they able to access the coins? Did NiceHash keep all this coins in hot wallets?

    According to Marko's explanation a computer in their office was compromised. They, whoever that was, actually broke into NiceHash's intranet.

    This steal was thoroughly planned, apparently.
