Haha, I just visited YouTube to check some stats for my YouTube clips, and as you probably know, YouTube always comes with suggestions for movies that you might wanna watch. Right now, one of the suggestions was a brand new trailer for a movie named Dora The Explorer, based on the Nickelodeon character with the same name.
I am not a big fan of Dora The Explorer myself, but I have seen quite a lot of episodes because of kids around the house and so I know what it is all about and what Dora should look like. But, this time, it is not about an animated movie, but a real-life Dora who looks quite similar to the animated Dora, and she is just as adventurous as we know her from the animated series. Well, to be honest, she is way cooler in this trailer than how I remember her from the animated series on Nickelodeon.
I know, this is a movie for teenagers, but I did not feel disgusted at all watching the trailer. This seems to be a delightful little movie with some nice actors such as Eugenio Derbez, Eva Longoria, Michael Pena, Danny Trejo, and Isabella Moner. You might not know much about these, but if you have ever seen Desperate Housewives, you probably remember Eva Longoria. She hasn't been active in great movies since then, but she is still a famous actress. Michael Pena is an actor you might remember from movies such as Ant-Man and CHIPs, so not a super-famous guy, but you will still recognize his face. Eugenio Derbez is a funny Mexican actor who has his own show called Last One Laughing (in which the goal is to make other comedians laugh without laughing yourself), and you can also watch him in the movie Overboard which will come to Amazon Prime in April 2019.
Why I look forward to Dora The Explorer - Lost City of Gold?
This is what I would call a Tomb Raider movie for a younger audience. Here we will have action and bad-guys, and of course, a Dora who is capable of doing great stunts, without all the guns and the violence. I believe this will become a real hit among teenagers, and I do hope some kids around me will want to watch this in cinema and let me bring them along (giving me an excuse to watch the movie myself). I am curious to read more about the reception of this movie (it will be released in August 2019), but I think this will be a great success among its core group, so who knows - maybe more Dora The Explorer movies will come in the future.
