In 1901 Nigeria became colonised by Britain.
The colonization lasted for about 59 years until October 1st, 1960. This was when Nigeria succeeded in gaining her Independence.
October 1st, 1963 was the date Nigeria first became a republic.
All this while, the military rule was the type of government in Nigeria. Four a period of four years, first, democracy was briefly the kind of government in Nigeria, between 1979 and 1983, until Buhari led a military coup and ended it.
Military rule again lasted for another 33 years until may, 1999. In the reign of President Obasango, democracy was introduced and have since been in play.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are the two parties in opposition with many members and supporters but APC has more people in the government. As stated earlier even the president is in APC
