Yesterday, at a local airport here, I heard ‘Somebody, Diamond Bank”. I had two nicknames in Diamond Bank when I worked there: ‘Prof” and “Somebody”. As a student, one of the greatest moments I had in FUTO was the day I had a handshake with the Vice Chancellor; I had received the University Scholar Award. I was a boy from the village shaking the greatest power in my world.
In Nigeria, we need to take down the “big man” mentality. Loosen up and inspire personal confidence in people’s lives. That is part of the African tradition. It is painful to watch men pass junior workers doing all to greet them. IT MAKES US WEAKER AS LEADERS.
