EXPRESS: why can't we express?

One of the features of human being is movement: the ability to go from one place to another. The earlier beings only have leg for this movement thus limiting the extent to which they could migrate and also taking much time to move.

As the world keep on developing, the era of using animal as a medium to migrate evolve, this involve the use of animals like camel, donkey e.t.c. These animals make it easy then for people to travel long distance more than what can be cover by mere human leg. They also give man the advantage to moving faster and their importance in the area of farming cannot be over look as they help in carrying heavy farm produce. Though they offer many advantages, it was still known then that the best that can be explore through transportation is yet to come for the world is such a wide globally village.

Through fish farming, the era of water transportation came in. It started at first through the use of local canoe, boat until the development of modern day ship. Also transportation by air also come into place through which man can fly as bird in the air and cover wide distance in shortest possible time with use of aeroplanes, jets e.t.c. This article will not talk more on water and air transportation as it main aim is on the challenges confronting road transportation in my nation.

As time goes on, motor car evolve and thus replacing the use of animal for transportation. Cars of different types were produced and this makes transportation easier. But in a different way from aeroplanes and ships which there path can be said to be naturally created, cars need a constructed road to move. This need can be link to the evolvement of another aspect in construction which is road building. With these, different road building company begin to emerge and they all started with a good work.

Unfortunately, they deviate along the path, we started having weakly built road that can't serve up to 5 years after construction, our road began to suddenly transform into a trap of death thus making us not to fully enjoy the benefit of traveling by road. These bad roads also have effect on our body as a result of car entering one pit to another pit on the road. The effect of these roads on our cars can't be over emphasized as they cause damage of so many part of our cars. All of these now make people not to feel joyous any longer when road is being construction in their area for they don't have the assurance that the road will serve them for long.

The most annoying thing is that this issue of bad roads is not left out on our federal road which we do call "express". They are the road believe to be linking one state to another, but they have also become so cruel that one refer to them as "Express road where car speed can't be express". You dare not move at a speedy rate on this so-called express because they also have a lot of pitfalls playing on them. At times you see some pitfalls and you wonder whether they were intentionally dug with diggers.

Most times, I have being bother with the question "why this?". They answer I do got was that most of our roads are now either constructed with fake materials or they are not constructed with enough materials, when I ask why this is being done? People tend to say that, construction companies use more money to bribe before they get contract and when they finally get the contract, they will remove the money they have use to bribe and thus making the remain money not to be enough to use full quality materials. But my issue is where have they place integrity in their profession? Why placing the life of humanity on such a costly risk?

Upcoming builders, civil engineers and other associated professions, I hope you will raise to change the tides to things and to the present one there is still a chance to change.
