Day 1 of 14: My Holiday Escapades

in nigeria •  7 years ago

So I made my debut post yesterday where I referenced the beginning of my 14 days break from the regular 8-5 (or anytime you finish the day's deliverables, most times after 9 pm).

So I found my way to Ibadan and one of the most important days here like other parts of Nigeria is Saturday. When you hear Saturday, the famous Owanbe rings its exciting bells [for my global audience, “Owanbe” is the name given to the bustling party celebrations – loud and colourful in the Nigerian way]. The colourful attires, the "bottom-pot" rice (#Nigeria Jollof) and the unlimited alcohol (Something Light).

So today was no exception and we had two parties to attend. In the company of boys, trust me anything can happen. So the day started with the search for fuel. The goddess of love smiled on us and @woleybabz got fuel before 8:00 a.m. (Only Nigerians in Nigeria will understand how miraculous getting fuel is during this festive season).

We picked another team leader @Trillex and the car was headed for Mauve21 (our first point of call). My first visit to Mauve21 was sometime around August 2016 around 12 midnight. It was during a week-long celebration spin-offs from @Woleybabz birthday and we left Bubbles to round up the nite at the celebrated Mauve21 club [A story for another day :)].

So we are here and the party goodies was not flowing in our direction. One of the painful moments in Nigerian Owanbes is being sidelined in the "food sharing" because you have no "insider" in the kitchen department (or your “insider” is not that much of an influence). Let us just say the experience at Mauve21 wasn't too good. Boys do not have much patience, so we left.

Some 15-20km up north from Mauve21 is the Jogor Center (JC), our next point of call. Something about the providence saving the best for the last. JC was lit, @detan was the inside man. Everything good came in multiples... 20171224_070652.jpg

My 1 million naira advice: Have an inside man, always!!!
