Catherine was lost in thoughts
"What an evil world". She muttered.
Her 7 year old daughter was kidnapped few days after her husband was murdered in cold blood.
"What do they want from me?" She said as she struggled to lock the old rusted brown gate to their apartment. They had moved from their magnificent castle to an ancient bricked house the day after the death.
Catherine rushed across the dusted and tattered road as she went searching for her 7 year old daughter.
News spread like wildfire across the town, everyone became very frightened. Talks and discussions of Nathan's death had gone across the borders.
"Are you sure they won't come for her too?"
Catherine heard as she passed by two men standing opposite a bar. She couldn't help but lifted her legs and walked fast past them.
"Welcome Mrs" said one of the police officers at the station when Catherine stepped in, her eyes were swollen and lips dry as she had cried for days. "We have good news" the other officer smiled. Her eyes were already rolling in anxiousness, then her 7 year old Stephanie walked in, Catherine eyes began to roll out tears, hugged her tight and wept.
"Ohh Madam this is not the time to cry, just be happy your daughter is alive, we found her across the road" said one of the officers. Stephanie narrated how she luckily escaped from the kidnappers. Catharine could not help but thank the officers and left.
On a cold and dreaded night, while Catherine and her daughter were on their way back from church, she noticed a van moving closely behind them, she shrugged, Stephanie was rightly in front of her walking and singing. "Twinkle, twinkle Little star, how I wonder what...." Shhhhh Catherine interrupted. Stephanie noticed the van, it was almost close to them, it was pretty dark but she could sight a man or two on dark masks motioning them to stop. "Run Stephanie Run!!" Catherine shouted as the two masked men jumped out of the van and dripped her neck with a sharp silver knife. Stephany watched her mother killed from a distance, her heart began to pound, ran as fast as she could back to the church. "Sir Paul! Sir Paul!!" She shouted. Sir Paul was the church's gate keeper, he jumped up from his seat and rushed out like he was being pursued by a ghost, only for him to see little Stephanie crying. "What's the matter?" He asked, panting. She narrated the ordeal in her little way. "Jesus Christ!" Sir Paul exclaimed with his mouth wide open. He took Stephanie into his quarter built for him by the church. Stephanie couldn't sleep that night as she constantly gazed at the ceiling wishing her beloved mother was right beside her. Few moments later she fell asleep.
"What a tragedy!" Lamented the pastor as they lay Catherine corpse 6feet below the earth. Drops of tears began to flood out of little Stephanie's eyes as she watched the coffin being lowered.
***********************
Stephanie was 11 years old when she was sent down to her aunt's home, the church decided on that to avoid future mishap. Aunty Sarah was a thin dark lady with curly hair in her mid 30s. One thing she never joked with was her love for food. She had a fiancé with whom she lived with. He was tall, dark, had a broad chest, pretty lived a life of a gangster. He had been in prison twice for dealings with hard drugs.
"Welcome Stephanie" Aunty Sarah smiled as she showed Stephanie her room. "Feel free to ask anything" she continued. Stephanie gazed around the room, not bad she thought, the bed was middle-sized, on the left side was a mirror pinned to the wall, she walked to it, looked at the image in the mirror and couldn't help but felt sorry for herself.
Two years later, Stephanie was enrolled by her aunt's fiancé into a public high school across town.
She struggled to adapt to the environment as the school was filled with bad influences, drug addicts, immoral and filthy looks. "Hey! What's up?" A voice called behind, she could perceive an adorable smell from who she looked at. George was a fair skinned handsome boy with a moderate height and sparkling set of teeth. Despite she was sad and uncomfortable with the sights, she tried to make a smile at him. "What's wrong?" He asked. "Nothing I'm fine" she replied. George requested to walk her home, not bad she thought. They walked and it seemed he was the only one doing the talking, giving her talks about the school and how corrupt everything seemed to be. She could hardly listen as she thought of her mother again. "Hey what's wrong?" George said in confusion. "I just want to be left alone" she replied sharply. She walked faster and struggled to keep distance with him. In disarray, George went the other way.
The next day at school, Stephanie looked out for him. "Hey!" She tapped him from behind. "I'm sorry for yesterday, I just don't....." she continued. "Its okay" George whispered. They walked to the school garden, had a very long conversation talking about life experiences and memories. George felt so sorry for her and promised her life would be better.
************************
"Who is she? Why was she on you??" Aunty Sarah shouted angrily. "Look here, you don't shout at me, ain't no kid!" Her fiancé said aggressively. Stephanie could hear from her room, she rushed downstairs to have a glimpse. "Powwwww" his hand met aunty Sarah's face. She staggered, went into the kitchen and came out with a shining silver knife, "kill me and go to jail" Chris shouted. Stephanie watched as they struggled with the knife and fought. "Pack your things and leave before I get back!" Chris uttered leaving the house angrily.
In Anger, Aunty Sarah went in, packed her things in tears. Stephanie was short of words as she was still recovering from her own dilemma.
She watched Aunty Sarah leave the house with a box, she began to tremble. She thought about living under the roof alone with a drug dealer. She forgot about it and went to sleep. Chris came back drunk, his mouth uttered bad odour as he murmured.
"Where are you?" He said staggering as he entered in, he looked out for Aunty Sarah and couldn't find her. He found his way into Stephanie's room, he switched on the light, she jumped up from sleep like a thunderstruck. Chris eyes fastened on Stephanie's cleavage as she wore a strapless bra with pants on, that was her favourite nightwear. She began to move back in fear. Chris was taken off by the sight of a fourteen year old girl with moderate breasts and irresistible body shape. "What an opportunity" he thought. He walked towards her, held her by the waist, she tried to free herself, shouted for help, but what was the use? Middle of the night, she remembered. Chris pushed her onto the bed. "Please, please don't do this to me. Please Uncle" she pleaded as tears began to drip off her eyes. Without hesitation, Chris puffed off her bra, unzipped his trousers and did justice to the night.
*************************
"Hello! Hey! Hi! Stephanie!!" George yelled. She looked at him with shock. "what's the matter?" He asked. "leave me alone please" she said as she walked out on him. Her hatred for the opposite gender started that night Chris deflowered her.
"What's up girl!" A voice whispered. Brittney was a light skinned girl with cute dimples every guy in school wished to have. She had gone through alot with guys, she beat up anyone that tried to woo her. One would wonder why a cute girl would go into drugs, robbery and other immoral dealings. Well.
"I've been seeing you around, moody every time and the looks on your face doesn't tell you're okay" She continued. "Hmmmm well" Stephanie sighed. "Let's go get a drink" Brittney added.
At the school café, Brittney listened as Stephanie explained her experiences from her father's death to her rape. Brittney smiled. "Really? You smiled?!" Stephanie said in exclamation. "You just explained my life story" Brittney said. Stephanie was shocked. Brittney explained how she was homeless and found someone to take care of her, but she was molested sexually. She found a young guy who she got into a relationship with and he introduced her to the gangster life and she enjoyed every bit of it. Unfortunately, her boyfriend was killed by a group of gang which led her to flee and move here. "Wow" Stephanie said in surprise. "Life has to go on my dear, my place is free, you can come stay with me." Brittney added. Stephanie was glad she found someone who shared the same memories.
Days passed, Chris decided to move to another state. Brittney and Stephanie shared the same thoughts, feelings and began to walk together. That was the beginning of Stephanie's comeback thought on getting revenge at those who got her parents killed.
Hmmmmm.....Are you surprised Stephanie changed?
Well, did she later realise her mistakes and had a change of attitude?
Or she got stucked with the plan and haunted for the evil perpetrators
Wait! What if the mastermind was very close to her....
Lol let me keep you in suspense.
