Yes! My blood is green! Is yours green too? Lets find out.
Have you ever wondered about the Normality in the Abnormalities of our great country Nigeria? We have come to so much as accept such things that ought to be Abnormal as Normal to the extent of not even knowing it.
O! I mean, we have come to the point where we want to do some things that requires due process and procedures and could easily either struggle through it or wait long before it gets done or simply bribe our way through it. (Honestly, that’s Nigerian blood in action).
The irony, is that all this comes so normal that you don’t even realize you didn’t need to go through all that hassles if we had a working system.
Lets go through some life experiences that’s been happening of late;
Unavailability of the Available
Its actually ironical when you’ve got something in abundance but yet its still scarce. Can’t wrap my head around that.
For a while now, specifically since around December, 2017 Nigeria has been experiencing a harsh level of Scarcity of Fuel all over the country up till this moment of publishing this post. Guess what, everyone is going about their businesses as if everything is normal and on point.
So, on this wonderful day, I got a hint I could get fuel at a particular filling Station at the approved price, so I had to get to the office on time so I could quickly get there without joining so much que. Alas! I got there on time it seemed to me, but it looked to me as if several motorists slept at the fuel Station. Well, after little contemplation, I joined the que and luckily enough the que was fast enough and I got fuel.
Fast forward to few days later, I narrated my experience to two of my friends that I got fuel some days back and I only spent about 45 to 50 minutes before it got to my turn. To my amazement they burst into serious laughter that, driving in and out of the fuel station ought to be as easy as fetching water in less than 5minutes in a working system. Very true, I was so ashamed. Some people would have closed a business deal in that 50minutes or done something productive. To cap it all up, I refused to tip the fuel attendant and she took it personal and was insulting me while I drove off.
Government of the people or of a few people
Every responsible government of any country ought to be responsible for the welfare of its people without favoritism of any kind.
Election is just by the corner come 2019 and citizens are beginning to get ready to vote in their choice Candidates. The citizens are becoming more informed and better voters than what we used to have some years back. Several voting judgments are now based on the personality of the Candidates and how the citizens feel the Candidate can deliver and not based on whatever party they belong to.
Despite this informed choices, just as Esau in the Bible sold his birth right for a plate of stew, several are still out there ready to sell their voting rights for as cheap as #2000naira(two thousand Nigerian naira) so i heard.
As I observed the voters card registration exercise, I discovered also that party agents were at the venue trying to persuade citizens on what location to fill in and all other sensitive information so they can buy over their votes later. For crying out loud, this ought to be a seamless and easy process that doesn’t require interference from anyone if you really love this Country. In short, party agents ought not to be at the registration venue for any reason. That’s the green blood playing out in a bad way.
HOPE
My confidence level for the future of this great country is Unequivocal. We have all that it takes to be the envy of the world and we will sure get there with the right perspective.
Someone said; “if Nigeria decides not to have a plan but just Copy what has worked and is working for thriving countries and implement here, we would go far”. True, but I believe we can do so much more because we have got the tenacity, resilience, creativity and courage. A lot is being done by our citizens ,representing the Green Blood in an Awesome way. Have you heard of Jelani Aliyu? Yeah! He is the Nigerian that designed the American car; Chevrolet Volt. What about Adebayo Ogunlesi the man that owns Gatwick Airport in London and is managing a lot of other investments successfully without cutting corners. You will love to google up his inspiring profile. Just to mention a few. I am sure you are aware of what guys like @tojukaka,@ejemai,@phait,@nairadaddy@bisodun,@adejoke16,@fisteganos and the likes are doing in and through the steemit community; reaching out to the less privileged, empowering anyone who cares to know with relevant information on steemit and how to succeed in it. You might say what difference does all this makes to anyone, hey, the difference it makes to one person will inspire that One to also want to replicate same kindness and love to others and on and on if it goes, the difference will be clearer than seven up.
