Walk-through with pictures your Grandma will dig..
Shout out to @steeleminer for mentioning that I didn't put any pics in my last post. Herein I make amends :)
So… When you visit https://nimiq.com/betanet here’s what will happen.
First, your favourite browser loads a nice animation for a few seconds..
Then you click the “Connect to Network” button.
Now your browser connects to other Nimiq peers – (other computers using the Nimiq interface just like you are), who help to verify transactions.
Your browser synchronizes with your peers, to update your Nimiq wallet balance. Your balance will be 0.00 at first...but don’t despair, read on for the free stuff.
Consensus established (means yep, we all agree you’re awesome, your hair looks great and your Nimiq wallet balance is legit).
Click “Open Wallet” at the bottom right, and explore your Nimiq stash.
From the wallet you can easily transfer your value to someone else, (provided you have their Nimiq address – under the ACCOUNT heading), and you’ve mined some NIM tokens.
After the December Mainnet launch you’ll also be able to buy NIM from within this web page, via credit card.
Bear in mind that the https://nimiq.com/betanet site the TEST platform, so anything you mine or practice-transact until December’s Mainnet launch, you’re doing for fun only, and to help the developers debug anything and perfect the platform, before it goes live to the world. If you do purchase NIM tokens on an exchange before the December Mainnet launch, you won’t be able to use them on this platform, because it’s a test platform, and you don’t want to use real NIM on this test site. Roger that?
Once Mainnet launches in December, you can start using the platform for real transactions and free mining of real NIM tokens. Heads you win, tails you win. It’s kinda’ like gambling, but your house always wins. If you want me to shoot you some NIM tokens to feel the thrill of receiving them from the Australian bush, post your Nimiq address in a reply to this post and I’ll send you 10 NIM until I run out.
Please Note: The NIM you mine hold no real-world value in the betanet site, but you can still teach your Grandma how to use Nimiq before the December launch, which will be announced at https://nimiq.com (the ONLY trusted source of information for this platform).
You can also follow developments at https://twitter.com/nimiqnetwork and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ1qu3KXwfmkGwBkU8F1jQg where you can learn more about the team, their thinking process behind the whole project, what motivated them to sleep only a few hours each night for the past 6 months, and some nice caterpillar, dog, pizza and forest scenery videos. Because why not :)
Now go check out that sexy interface, hit me up with your wallet address, and I’ll NIM you some tokens to play with.
I’m out.

Yes it's very interesting. It's by far the easiest method of introducing people to cryptocurrency that I've come across so far. I still know noone in my community that knows anything about bitcoin, let alone ethereum or the 800+ others, but I think they'll hear about Nimiq in December. It'll be like a Christmas miracle :)

I found Nimiq and I think it's a fantastic platform, very simple to use. I'm looking forward to seeing it widely adopted and enjoyed by people all over the World. Thanks for commenting :)

Cheers, Just remember it's only the betanet until December, so consider it "play money" with no real value at the moment. When the Mainnet goes live in December, you'll be mining REAL value in your browser. Until then, just get ready to enjoy the real thing when they launch in December. Happy nimiqing :)
