LIVE from Athens – Hero’s Journey with Judith Delozier . Day 3 01/10/2017

What we all humans have in common? We born, we die and we have struggles. Each one of us has its own unique hardships and we embark on a journey to face them. This is The Hero’s Journey, an archetypical metaphor that represents what we all humans deal each day of our lives.

This is the third and final day of an NLP seminar based on the concept of the Hero’s journey. The seminar is conducted by Judith Delozier and took place in Athens,Greece.

For starters let me remind you the steps of the Hero’s Journey.
Awakening to the call
Accepting the call
Facing and Transforming Fears
Gathering the alies
Finding the Gift
Returning Home

The Seminar is not linear, which means it doesn’t describe the steps one by one, but rather focuses on certain aspects of the journey and presents them through biomatic NLP exercises. Without further ado this what happened today.

Identity Matrix

In the end the Hero’s Journey is a journey of identity. The perception of ourself is, as we call it in NLP,a map, a representation of our identity , that is shaped by our beliefs about our potential and our limitations. The identity matrix is a tool of recognizing core beliefs that affect the way we see and express ourself.

It is based on the following questions. The answers should be represented by a symbol.
Core : what is this you believe that you are and will stay for ever ?
Potential : what is this you want to be and believe that you can become?
Limitation : what is this you want to be, but you believe that you will never become?
Boundary : what is this you don’t want to be and believe that you will never be?
Weakness : what is this you don’t want to be, but afraid that you could become?
Shadow : what is this you don’t want to be, but afraid that you are?

Closing thoughts

Obvioulsy, an article or two are not enough describe what happened these three days. It was an awesome experience, a journey of the mind through places unknown, places we didn’t even suspected that they existed. But they do. And the more we discover the more rich we become and more able we become to deal with whatever life throws at us.

And life throws a lot. And there will be times in the journey that the hero will be cornered, surrounded by enemies and on the verge of defeat. This is when his allies will come to the rescue. But they won’t come uninvited. The hero has to call them. And how does this happen? By being open to receive help and by exposing himself to the world and to new opportunities.
Out of personal experience, I can reassure you that help will come in your way if you ask it in the right manner. Show the world that you try hard, you try your best and seemingly out of the blue people will appear who will assist / mentor / guide you in the direction you want to take. Open your heart , open your eyes , take massive action and be prepared for surprises.
