The book is: “Surely you're joking, Mr. Feynman” by nobel prize winner Richard P. Feynman.

He wrote: “You have no responsibility to live up to what other people think you ought to accomplish. I have no responsibility to be like they expect me to be. It's their mistake, not my failing.”

I strongly recommend reading the book.

Edit:

The idea of “having no responsibility to live up to what people think you ought to accomplish” mentioned by Feynman isn’t meant as an excuse to bypass responsibilities.

What is meant is that you shouldn’t be doing something you hate because someone would be proud of you doing it. And nothing shameful in turning down 150K annual salary for the sake of working on an idea you’re interested in, Or starting your own thing that is not likely to succeed.
