If you've been wondering "How do I buy Steem?" and someone suggests "Coinspot!", you're probably already set up with an account but you've hit a major hurdle:
Account verification.
Because of anti money laundering laws, there needs to be some sort of verification of who you are (if you want to keep things legit).
The account verification process in Coinspot can be frustrating at best and infuriating at worst. I was rejected no less than 8 times! BUT, that was because I wasn't following instructions. Humbling, sure, but I will spare you the trouble so you get accepted a lot sooner.
What you need to do is gather your personal information, preferably on a kitchen table.
DO NOT SCAN YOUR DOCUMENTS IN. They will not accept them in this format.
Get a camera. No, not your mobile phone, your camera. (I know, it's a pain).
You will be holding a piece of paper with both hands and your arms need to be visible.
Yes, I know. Nods in sympathy.
Turn the kitchen light on. You need to take a photo of each of your documents,
making sure that you can see the edges, and that there are no shadows and you don't obstruct
any holograms, etc.
If you choose the passport option, this is the top page image:

You'll notice that I have used my phone to keep the passport flat.
Take your photos from above but avoid shadows.
Make sure that your address is the same that is on your residential
paperwork OR your utility bill where the red arrow is or it will be
rejected.
Write out the testament / statement with your private code no. and sign it.
Make sure to write it so that it's THICK so it can be read.
Finally, and this is the really hard part, you need to be able to get someone to take your photo
or work out the self timer. What I did was line my camera up while it was sitting on top of my
fridge and set my self timer, held the paper and smiled.
Make sure that both your hands and arms are visible in the photo when it's taken. Don't use the flash
otherwise it will blank out the paper.
