Between or beyond, what are we?

an aid to self-inquiry

Between sturdiness and flexibility, openness and conviction.
Between effort and relaxation, the complex and the simple.

All things seek towards balance, as a vine crawls towards the sun. The soul inclines towards happiness of polarities synthesized. It cannot be reached through the mind, which is always unsatisfied. The brain is always churning; it is miscievious like a small child. It will build a tower of thought only for the giddy pleasure of knocking it down again! It puts on a false face of confidence in the presence of fear, and wriggles its way out of any confines with screams of glee.

Therefore leave the monkey to its play; ignore the ululations of the infant of thought. Disregard its ignorance; discard its distractions. Look very closely and inquire "Where came this entity? Who is it that is doing this thinking?" Become firmly established in the understanding "I am not the thinker, I am not the thoughts." You will see the whole dramatic production is happening in consciousness; it is all entertainment going on that has nothing to do with you!

Beyond all of these disturbances there is a blinding black hole of stillness and infinite presence. It is gentle and filled with indescribable peace. It is a loving warmth that is so powerful it is nearly unbearable. It is so incredibly intense and strong that its silence drowns out all sound. The volatility of thought and emotion now appear to be tiny ripples that are fluttering about like cute insects. Let them be! Let them fly about and explore their world of dim light. Of what concern is it? We are not the wandering thoughts nor the feelings.

Just keep inwardly quiet and keep looking at the nature of the self. Who or what are you? Do not listen to what anyone says about it, find out for yourself! Keep looking into the feeling "I am." Where does it come from? Who is the thinker of thoughts, the doer of deeds. Who is the feeler of feelings? Who is the observer of the observable, the senser of sensations? Just enjoy this inquiry until it runs itself out and stops manufacturing concepts.

In the conceptless space there is a firmness beyond anything. Everything that was thought to be concrete is then seen to be totally intangible. The only solid thing becomes the indescrible, unthinkable, ineffable totality. The expanse is infinite, fearless, undying, unborn.

All ideas, teachings, and writings are fiction!
Go beyond all the concepts, beyond all the diction.

The space is inconceivable to our minds in size of peanuts. We only have the freedom to act according to the laws of the universe-creator-self. The manipulation and abuse of the universal cosmic laws by the quasi-authority in religious frames brought to us prison rather than freedom. Turning to yourself is one of the key ways to find ourselves, a meditation that comes from the heart can reveal secrets that release us from material suffering. Thanks for exellent post @d-pend

Thanks for those excellent insights @dobartim.
Liberation through the remembrance of fundamental truths...

Those photos are wild!

Great writing. Ah, monkey mind... a tough thing to beat. Beware of those kinds of questions tho. Therein lies the path of madness, and many souls have become lost when meditating on such things. Better to quiet the mind and just observe. Doing so, you soon discover the truth without the need for questions and realize the illusion of the self.

Thanks @dbooster for reading and sharing your input :)

You didn't have to erase what you wrote before. I enjoy hearing your ideas and I love good dialog and conversation about things. But at any rate, you're welcome :) Keep writing and I will keep reading.

Haha, I appreciate you saying that. I have sometimes had the experience of dialogues becoming a bit... fruitless. So perhaps I avoid them even at times when they could be of use. Each one's experience and path to Truth is so unique, I want to make sure I respect and honor them all. (Which is something, in the arrogance of youth, I feel I have not always done.)

Besides, I just wrote a whole essay; No need to ramble incessantly ;)
Thanks for letting me know that you're open to discussion!

Don't discount your own ideas because of youth. Often youth is when we have our best ideas, or at least our most honest ideas.

But I understand what you mean. Dialog can be fruitless, esp when it is more of two separate monologues with each person merely waiting for their turn to speak and not listening, but it can also be a wonderful exchange of ideas. I've been in both situations. The later is much more fun and rewarding than the former.

Good point; the rashness of youth is a double-edged sword. It's nice to have no filter and be able to express jubilantly! At the same time I really enjoy getting older as well because of the greater caution and humility that comes from making many foolish choices :D

Yes, that first type of conversation is extraordinarily painful to see, even as a bystander, lol. A healthy exchange can definitely lead to a lot of growth. Other people provide an invaluable opportunity for our learning because of the novel combinations of thought and sentiment they bring that no one else is capable of.

Ah, but the downside of growing older is that we often become more cautious! ;) haha it is indeed a double-edged sword, in both cases.

Very wise words. I fully agree. Everyone has something to teach us, offering a learning opportunity. Long ago I was friends with a monk and he advised to listen one hundred times more than I talk. (he was a bit more direct than that ;) Those zennies don't mince words much) Good advice for any situation. Learning to listen teaches us to have good conversations.

Nice post! It was like reading poetry

God IS......

That's the TRUTH, God IS and NOTHING else is. Stillness of mind comes closest to experiencing this.

That was AMAZING!!!! So profound
