My father, a Vietnam Veteran. He hated war, he understood that it was hell. He did not try to up his manhood with extra guns, he understood their power. When he died, he had one pistol, and his father's police issued service pistol that never left the oak box it was presented in. My father marched in the streets for veteran's rights. My father is also a victim of a VA hospital that is too overwhelmed and underfunded to take care of the men and women who have suffered for their country. My father never needed an automatic weapon to feel strong, he knew not to play soldier, it's too dangerous. My father also liked Obama, and John McCain, he voted for George Bush Sr, but not his son, because he saw the weakness there. It's so easy to send these strapping young people into hell, unless they are your people...he wasn't proud about Vietnam, in fact, he rarely spoke about it. When he suffered a massive stroke at 41, that left him half paralyzed and with limited speech, we thought the VA would step up. He got third world care in a dirty VA hospital, after the stroke, he had to sell all his properties to pay for the initial health care he received via Brigham and Women's and Spaulding Rehabilitation, it bankrupted him...Disposable veteran. He didn't make a career out of it, so I guess he didn't matter. Fast forward to 2011. He died alone. Maybe it was on my daugther's birthday, I will never know because he was dead for at least 2 weeks before anyone checked on him. Thanks, VA, thanks. It was in Obama's administration, before the good stuff kicked in that Trump wants to destroy. If you still support Trump, stop saying you support the troops. It's a lie, and a terrible, terrible betrayal.
