Craigslist has always been a pretty spooky place in my opinion. I don't know why anyone uses it to be honest because no matter how crazy it is, whatever it is that you might be looking for it is there. However, there seems to be this new trend among criminals to put up bogus ads and then rob the people who turn up with the cash for it. This is exactly what happened recently in North Carolina, but this isn't the first time something like this has happened.
A 23 year old man was killed and his grandfather critically wounded when they turned up to buy a 2011 Camaro for $4,000. The "sellers" had no intention of actually selling a Camaro and it is unclear as to whether or not there ever was a Camaro in the equation. What is evident is that it was a setup all along and that the two had a very stupid plan that resulted in the murder and attempted murder of 2 innocent people.

Nothing suspicious about her but the guy looks like someone I wouldn't meet anywhere for anything at all. They were both arrested just a few days apart after nearly 3 weeks of searching for them. They were arrested just a few days apart which indicates that one of them ratted the other one out. Apparently they were arrested without incident or resisting and as for now, it appears as though they are both looking at life in prison... Over what? A mere $4,000?
Mark Anthony Nelson and Tamika Shatavia Ford were the perpetrators and are currently being charged with murder and attempted murder. Mark was held without bond and Tamika is held on bond of $1.25 million. I don't know if that means that she is out or that she couldn't come up with $1.25 million. I would imagine that someone who would kill 2 people over $4,000 probably doesn't have access to that kind of cash. I don't know how bail bond companies because I have never been to jail.
This happened about 2 hours from where I live in a part of the state that people don't really have much reason to visit. I am not bagging on small communities, I like small communities and live in one myself but honestly, I had never heard of this place until this story hit the news.

Now here is something that gets to me: Had the races been reversed we would be hearing about this 24 hours a day from every angle. BLM would be descending on the town and demanding justice for this hate crime yet because it was blacks killing whites we barely hear about it at all.
Also, it is exceptionally stupid to meet up with someone on a Craigslist ad with that sort of money. I would say that this news story could be a lesson for anyone out there that if you are going to meet someone for a purchase on Craigslist, do it in the parking lot of a police station or somewhere that has a lot of cameras like outside of a bank or I dunno, a bank parking lot.
Thankfully the cops got them anyway but it is unclear how they managed to do so.

It is also worth noting that the person who died who is named Tristan Stavee had two young daughters who now have to grow up without a dad. There are some truly horrible people in the world and I sincerely hope that these two get what is coming for them, in this life and the next.
I am not racist and this incident is not going to change that either. I just hate the way that the news and social media handles things like this because it isn't important when it is whites that are the victims of crime and it should be important no matter what the color of the person is. The news even went out of the way to not reveal that the killers were black and you can bet your bottom dollar that if the races were reversed we would be hearing about the race aspects of it non-stop.

The Sheriff in the county I'm from in Georgia said that if you had a Craigslist transaction to make like this one, to please do it in his parking lot and to let them know so a deputy could be on hand.

good advice from the Sheriff. If you ask a CL seller to meet you at a police station and they decline... It might be time to reconsider the sale, or set them up on a sting op. But of course then it would be considered racist to do that, right?
