The meaning of Steemit and how do we particapate in this

in norway •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hi all fellow Steemians:-)

After reading @dan post about Steem and the Evil plan, if you don't know what this is, read my earlier post from the meetup with @onebitnews.

My head has started wandering round to see how this all adds up and what I can do to take a part in this. What will be my role, and how can i participate to make this work as good as possible.

I know some market places, or stores if you wanna call it that. First lets start with @babsboard, selling steem merchandises like t-shirts and probably a lot more in the future, @happyme has one store where she sells items in #happystore and another place #onebitmarket where you can sell and buy like a garage sale. I tried this out selling an item for SBD and it worked out great. Earlier i saw on trying to sell his car on Steeemit:-)
Yes if @dan is right this is where we are headed, but.....
*What can we do to make it easier to buy and sell?

  • How to promote your item?
  • How to find sellers
  • How to find buyers
  • How to pay
  • Shipping
  • Can you trust seller or buyer?
  • what about tags?

With this post I hope you will give me your thoughts on how we can make this work.
What would you prefer?
Can you do something?
Do you want me to do something?
Are we waiting for others to solve this?

Give us your ideas. Share with us your opinion, let us take our part in making this a success!!!!!!

I see that you suggest to use Steemit to make a own "airbnb" I have also thought of things like this to develop the Steemit platform.

Hi, @everydaycoach.

I believe the best thing for Steem(it) if we want to make it a marketplace is to get the SBD peg back to $1 again. I think Steem is a great investment, like many others, but I also completely understand that many stores, sellers and marketplaces do not want to hold a volatile currency like Steem. If SBD is pegged at $1 again, it will allow anyone, even huge companies, to sell their things on the Steem blockchain without taking a risk with investing in cryptos.

But that's just my opinion. I also respect that many of you guys really love the high author rewards from having a high SBD value.

Anyway, I think buying and selling things in Steem(it) will be a lot better and safer if this happens ;)

Hi @valth thanks for responding on my post.

I absolutely see your point in setting prices on things to sell at this platform. Since the value of SBD changes from the high 8usd to low 2.5usd it would be insane to sell something for 100 SBD and expect 800usd but END up getting 250usd. That is not possible to run a store like that!
As you say if SBD where pegged it should be better and easier to operate on “normal” conditions.

I have so far seen insane prices on items been sold, but cashback.png has given it some reason. Some of the items has ended up with 2 happy parts the seller got what he wanted and the buyer ended up with goods and a huge money cash back.

But I don’t think this is what normally happens and I think it will take time to get tings happen so it will make it easier to understand the selling and buying routines and to find items for sale.

Why not make tags like
Propertyforsale
Propertyforrent
Carsforsale
I.e
Have anyone tried using steemit instead of air bnb?
Best regards @everydaycoach

Hello, @everydaycoach. This post of yours appears to seek ways to expand STEEM-based commerce, a very worthy goal. However, you did use the #newbieresteemday tag, which is normally an invitation to add newbie links in the comments and ask you to resteem them.

I really don't want you to feel I'm spamming your post. Would you allow me to post a link here that isn't on your topic, yet is invited by your tag? It isn't my link but, rather, one from another newbie who seriously needs help and might not get enough of it unless a lot of people resteem her blog entry.

Thanks!

Sure you can:-)

Thanks! Here is her post — please upvote and resteem it!

Very Nice.
