Norwegian hate speech laws are bonkers.

So, the Norwegian law, that was passed in 2020, which is now being used to threaten two women with three years in prison for alleged "hate speech" actually says that the penalty can be up to three years for public comments, and one year for private comments.

So, I just met up with a friend at Starbucks. Both of us, at one point, in certain terms, said that a woman is an adult human female. In Norway, we could both be facing a year in jail. For me typing this out on the internet, I could be hit with three years in prison in Norway.

Still, the idea that private speech can land you in jail in any country that anybody in Western Civilization considers to be a liberal democracy should horrify everyone who fancies him or herself to be a liberal.

Seriously, how many wokesters will be willing to say, in no uncertain terms, that this law is fucking bonkers? I'm to a point that'll surprise me if one will come out against this. I wouldn't be surprised if swaths of them will hear about this and think, "Wouldn't it be great if we could overturn the First Amendment, so we can have a law like that here?"

I don't care if you think that hate speech is a thing, and that saying that men can't be lesbians qualifies as such -- well, actually, I do care. If you're actually okay with people thrown in jail for comments, public or private, you're the Hitler or Stalin or Mao in the room.
