How to reach your goals
Having spent a month at Steemit, and at the same time having a wonderful teacher and mentor, @Ramta Reddington, I thought it was time to start up a repetitive blog about a topic I have a crush for, self-development, motivation and realization of dreams and ideas.
First a little about me:
Besides my interest and study in economic analysis, I have worked many years as a salesman and key account manager.
Seven years ago, I resigned my position in a major international company and decided to go all inn on the dream of running my own business.
After a tough start and many sleepless nights, I had to go into myself to see if I had made a right or wrong choice by dropping out of a safe job.
During this process, I came across a book that would turn the anxiety and fear of failure, to the pure joy and sense of being free and master of one's own life.
This book led me to many other books and courses I have read and taken and still participating in.
The result of this enlightenment is that I currently have business in sales, marketing, investment and real estate.
So, on the basis of my own experiences, I am going to make blogs about things that helped me succeed.
I also use this writing as a motivation for myself to focus on areas I use every day to live the life I want.
For those who find this exciting and want to follow my posts, I wish you a lot of luck in realizing your dream.
Do not be afraid to ask questions, I will try to respond as best as I can.
In this first edition, I thought to take on the importance of setting a concrete goal for what to achieve.
Many thinks that "I'm going to do my best" is good enough, but here many fail before they've left the ground at all.
If you have a specific goal to work against, motivation will increase as you see the goal approaching and you will automatically do your best all the time to actually reach the goal.
If you think of a person who wants to get in better shape.
And if this person is thinking, I will do my best, it will be very easy to have a day on the couch if there is a bit of rain outside.
However, if the same person sets a goal for completing a marathon in 18 months, and at the same time telling this to friends and family, there will be a much bigger defeat if he does not get to the start line.
Working towards the goal that comes closer and closer, while make the health better and better, helping increase the motivation to break the finish line when the day of the race is there.
I love everything from the time the goal is set, until I can harvest the fruits at the end of the journey.
And I know by myself that I work harder and smarter when I have something specific to work towards.
Ok, the question arises, how do I set a goal?
There are many methods you can use to set a goal, but I will here answer the methods I use.
Do you have other ways to reach your goal, it is great. The most important thing is to concretize the goal.
The first thing I'm looking at is whether the dream I want to realize is actually doable.
The goal must be realistic.
There is no point in striving to reach the top of Mount Everest if you have not climbed the hill in your neighborhood.
Then you must formulate your goal by giving it a size and a timeframe.
There's no point in saying, I'll earn $ 1 million, if you do not know when to earn this million.
I often set a 6 to 12-month time as this is a timeframe that suits my patience. This can of course be waived if the time and the size of the result have other prerequisites to be achieved.
In the end, it's important that the goal requires something of me, something I have to strive to achieve something I can use my brainpower and stamina to reach. It should be my goal and I shall feel glad and happy when I reach it.
And not least it is important to feel positive and have a desire to work along the way.
This is my way to set goals. If you do not have your own methods yourself, I hope mine can help you on the way to achieving your dreams.
Do not be afraid to ask for advice.
Regards
@Gyldenhorn

Excellent post, many many people like myself would love to be able to become independent of a full-time job. It's a hard thing to do when your full-time job pays very well. So I'm thinking I'd like to have different revenue streams like the one I've started here, every couple of dollars helps get to that goal!

Setting goals is a very good way to motivate us to achieve a specific outcome and to evaluate our progress. We like the goals for that.
