Very interesting! I live in Belgium and one of the capitals of a province ('Hainaut') is Bergen -> This is Dutch. But the city is in the French-speaking area and there they call the city 'Mons'. Both 'bergen' and 'mons' means 'mountains'. Does the name Bergen in Norway also have something to do with mountains?

yes, it does. Bergen was called Bjørgvin in 1070 and it means; the green meadow between the mountains.
And today Bergen is known as the city between the 7 mountains;
Lyderhorn.
Damsgårdsfjellet.
Løvstakken.
Ulriken.
Rundemanen.
Fløyfjellet.
Sandviksfjellet.

Løvstakken is my favorite mountain, has the best view of it all. This photo is taken from Ulriken with the view over the city towards Løvstakken with snow cover on the top.

Mons
Mons (French pronunciation: [mɔ̃s]; Dutch: Bergen; German: Bergen; Picard: Mont; Walloon: Mont) is a Walloon city and municipality, and the capital of the Belgian province of Hainaut. The Mons municipality includes the former communes of Cuesmes, Flénu, Ghlin, Hyon, Nimy, Obourg, Jemappes, Ciply, Harmignies, Harveng, Havré, Maisières, Mesvin, Nouvelles, Saint-Denis, Saint-Symphorien, Spiennes and Villers-Saint-Ghislain.
Mons was made into a fortified city by Count Baldwin IV of Hainaut in the 12th century. The population grew quickly, trade flourished, and several commercial buildings were erected near the Grand’Place.
