King Crimson is an English progrock-group group, started in 1968 and appeared publicly for the first time in 1969, consisting of Michael Giles (drums), Greg Lake (bass and vocal), Ian McDonald (saxophone, woodblower and mellotron) and Robert Fripp guitar). Peter Sinfield was the group's author of the text. The basis of the band was laid already the year before with Giles, Giles and Fripp, who included Robert Fripp and Michael Giles with Peter Giles on bass. Giles, Giles and Fripp never achieved any great success.
King Crimson quickly broke through after the release of his first album, In the Court of the Crimson King, which featured the track "21st Century Schizoid Man". In the 1970s, the crew was interchangeable, as only Robert Fripp had been with all the time.
A new incarnation of the band started in September 2007.
