Ishavskatedralen

Køyrer ein over brua i Tromsøysundet, er Ishavskatedralen godt synleg.
Tromsøybrua over Tromsøysundet vart opna for trafikk i 1960. Brua har ei total lengde på 1016 meter.

Ishavs Cathedral or Tromsdalen church where devoted on November 12th in 1965. Inspired by arctic architecture, the architect Jan Inge Hovig has created a masterpiece that is well known. The Ishavs Cathedral acts as a navigating ground for shipping traffic through the Tromsø Sound.
When flights approach Tromsø and go for landing, the Ishavs Cathedral is one of the first one to notice. Drives over the bridge in Tromsøysundet, the Ishav Cathedral is well visible.
The distinctive architecture of the Ishav Cathedral consists of 11 aluminium-covered concrete material on both sides which gave the cathedral the unique shape.
One of the great, beautiful stained glass paintings by the artist Victor Sparre, completed in 1972. The beautiful cathedral is well worth a visit if you travel to Tromsø.

With your nice description sounds like the place is quite beautiful for the tourists. As it is made in 1972, we can consider it as a historical place also. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your nice comments @Dindar
The church «Ishavskatedralen» is from 1965, but the glass painting was finished in 1972.
It is also true that a lot of tourists are visiting this nice church.

Architectural masterpiece - bridge, @Siggjo !
And the picture is great! And the angle is great and time !
It turned out quite a picturesque frame!

And the clouds like a magic mist of tales envelop
him and conceal the mystery of the place )

Thank you for sharing , my friend Siggjo

Thank you for your nice comment @Singa

It was cloudy when I took these pictures.
Often such images can be successful, and your comment on these positives, so I understand that the photos have been successful.
I appreciate that you find that clouds can bring extra quality to the pictures.

Thanks for sharing....

The shape of the church matches an island Håja a bit outside Tromsø

(foto: Kjetil Ree ... I have my own photos as well, but only in a huge archive without any tagging ...)

Beauty is in the beholder of the eye ... the farm that was there before had quite some charm as well.

If coming by plane from a southern direction to Tromsø and the wind is from the south, the plane will often go west of Tromsø before turning around, if one is lucky one will see Håja instead of the Ishavskatedralen :-)

I appreciate your comment @Tobixen
I did not know anything about this similarity until you told me about Håja.
Many thanks for the accompanying link.
It is also interesting that travellers can get a glimpse of this hurry instead of the Ishavskatedralen when the plane is on the west side of Tromsø.

I don know the history of your picture. Now I new that. But I like the area location of the photographs. Very very nice photos to look in my eyes. I am so pleased. So many thanks to you .....

Thanks for your kind comments @Iftekar
I appreciate that you like both the pictures and some of the history of Ishavskatedralen.
