This is how the week of June 28 begins in some of the countries most affected by covid-19 in the region.

Colombia
On Saturday, Colombia surpassed the record number of new covid-19 cases, with 33,594 new infections, surpassing the record registered last Thursday.

MEXICO
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said Friday that the state of Baja California has already completed vaccination against covid-19, for which he would ask the U.S. to reopen the border.

"And we already complied, vaccination has been completed," Lopez Obrador said during a speech at the inauguration of the National Guard facilities in Tecate, Baja California.

The previous week, the state had begun vaccinating people from the age of 18, following the arrival of 1.3 million Johnson & Johnson vaccines donated by the US.

López Obrador did not give figures for the total number of people vaccinated in Baja California.

HONDURAS
Honduras received this Sunday 1.5 million doses of the Moderna vaccine against covid-19, donated by the United States under the Covax mechanism of the World Health Organization, informed the Honduran Secretariat of Communications.

Dominican Republic
Controversy has been sparked in the Dominican Republic by the Government's decision to apply a third dose of the covid-19 vaccine as a booster.

Several specialists have questioned the feasibility of the measure, indicating that there is still no data to justify it and no conclusive studies to establish the need for a booster dose or when it would be necessary.

Brasil
On Wednesday, Brazil registered a new record of Covid-19 infections, with 115,228 cases reported by the Ministry of Health.
