No religion teaches violence

Violence knows no Religion. All the religions of the world teach love and peaceful coexistence. Therefore labeling any particular religion as a violent and Terrorist religion is definitely a bad idea.

Thousands of Muslims offering pilgrimage at Grand Mosque, Mecca

No faith aspires to teach its followers to kill in the name of religion. There are certain individuals and groups of individuals who defame the religion by their violent acts. In the recent times, specially post 9/11, a lot of people in the west have referred to Islam as a violent and terrorist outfit. I'm writing this blog in order to change the mindset that prevails. Can acts of few be labelled as the act of an entire faith? Can Osama Bin Laden represent a religion that says "Killing an individual is a heinous crime and sin as if killing the entire humanity"? The answer is NO!!

Ex-British Prime Minister David Cameron on Islam

The roots of Islam are explained beautifully by the first verses of Holy Quran which says: It reads: “In the name of God, the Most Merciful, and the Most Compassionate”. This is self explanatory that GOD Almighty is most merciful and showers HIS blessings on everyone irrespective of their belief.

What if we label Christianity for Holocaust, an act of Hitler?  What if Hinduism is blamed for Tamil Tigers insurgency in Sri Lanka? What if Christianity is blamed for deadly World Wars? Surely the answer would be, "NO! That's Rubbish..." How can acts of groups of individuals be termed a divine thought? Yes! I agree with that.

So what is Islam?

Islam teaches peace and harmony above all. Violence and brutal killings has no place in Islam. It is either the misconception about Islam that is prevailing in today’s world that Islam sponsors terrorism or the vested interest of evil forces who wishes to malign the image of Islam. Peace is the primary duty of Islam and its adherents must come to show to the world that we are for peace and settlement not for violence and destruction. World has witnessed a lot of bloodshed in the name of God since the past two decades. Time has arrived when practical and positive initiatives can portray the true message of Islam.

great post!

Thanks for the appreciation :)

I live in Romania, a country that has a lot of problems with gypsies, and while I was pretty racist when I was very young ( around 8 years old), I got to understand, as I grew older, that everyone is human, and that I should never judge a nation by the actions of a few stupid animals that do bad things.

I learned that especially when I lived in Spain when I was 11 years old, and I had the pleasure to spend a lot of time with a lot of people black, asian, muslim, etc. There I understood that each person is different and each has the ability to be good and to help others.

I believe that racism is for stupid people, because it's impossible to actually have a brain and to hate millions of people based on the actions of a few, or based on their color.

Nice article, congratulations for being brave and talking about this, and I wish you best of luck!

Excellent comment! It shows how you have grown exponentially with regards to perception regarding racism. Indeed racism is a curse in itself and should be discouraged. One more thing, an ideology can only be defeated by an ideology. We all need to stand up to defeat all such pathetic ideologies meant to disturb universal peace. Let it be terrorism, racism or any such curse...

I think people who believe otherwise are extremist themselves and lack knowledge of other cultures. My bff is Muslim and we talk alot about the issue in general. Now in any religion or culture you will have bad people and it not fair to single out one group.

Absolutely spot on :) I appreciate your words...

Nice work, i hope you grow fast on steemit :)

Thanks @appreciator for appreciating my thoughts.
