#nowplaying week 18 - alice coltrane - journey in satchidananda

I was in seattle in the 90’s when i first heard this. Had already listened to a good percentage of john coltranes LPs but had never heard this track which was dedicated to John whom had passed away due to cancer i believe. The piece is transcendent and literally life changing in my opinion. The ostinato bass repeats off into infinity and shimmering waves of harp and sitar are the celestial backdrop for PhAroah Sanders to explore on the soprano sax. Its certainly an all time epic favorite of mine i hope you enjoy it too.
