Now Playing Week 31 - Good Blunt Music

in nowplaying •  6 years ago

The transformative powers of music work like magic on our souls. Snoop Dogg's transformation into Snoop Lion is a perfect example. I'm so pleased to see him move away from his difficult past into a new phase full of hope. I once had the pleasure of smoking a blunt with Snoop, nothing special really as he smokes blunts with everybody within arm's length, but it was right when his life was undergoing a profound change for the better and it felt good to be there in the room with him at that time, plus the herb was really good.

Hope you enjoy these tunes as much as I do. Thanks for listening.

cool :D Snoop is one of my favorite artists
I mostly like this track :

I like how the piano repeating (loop) but we never get tired of hearing it.

I saw he started sports and gym on Instagram. that was great

and this one was a great feat too :D

Love Snoop Dogg. He, as was I, heavily influenced by George Clinton, in fact, that's what inspired his name. Here is the "real original" OG even before Snoop. This is where he got a lot of his chops.

Really great :D, I didn't knew about this, George Clinton's Atomic Dog song is really cool :D I hear the Doggs LOL.

George Clinton is amazing. I got to open for him in San Francisco at the Exotic Erotic Ball once. He has produced or played on many records for decades and along with James Brown invented funk.

He produced Freaky Styley by Red Hot Chili Peppers, played in Parliament Funkadelic who are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, produced countless movie and TV soundtracks, and is still inspiring musicians and still playing and producing today.

You can hear his influence and even his songs reinterpreted, sampled, or outright stolen on everyone from Grandmaster Flash, Public Enemy, '911 Is A Joke, Snoop Doggy Dogg, 'Who Am I (What's My Name)?, Warren G feat. Nate Dogg, 'Regulate' (1994), samples Parliament's 'Mothership Connection (Star Child), De La Soul, 'Me, Myself and I' (1989), samples Funkadelic's '(Not Just) Knee Deep.

“Free your mind and your ass will follow.”
― George Clinton

“If it wasn't for flashbacks, I wouldn't remember anything at all.”
― George Clinton

My friend opened for George Clinton recently in Philadelphia. What was the band you were in, that sounds like quite the experience!

I was listening to each of the works, he is a real great artist and producer, thank you for the information and links, he had a great history in music, RHCP :D track, was watching that video too, cool, and movies soundtracks , George Clinton is a real legend man!
