Evocative and touching 

This is a Lou’s excellent cover version of the classic blues song by Blind Lemon Jefferson, See that My Grave Is Kept Clean.”  Not only is the title evocative and touching, but the lyrics are among the best of all blues songs.    

Passionate, clean, and pristine 

Now that Lou is gone, it’s particularly moving to hear him sing this song with such passion.

The lyrics here are powerful. They remind me of the inevitability of death. Thanks for doing these series, although discovered it lately.

The lyrics of blues songs were generally quite "realistic;" they usually dealt with difficulties and trials and tribulations of daily life, not with topics such as "the inevitability of death."

In that sense, this song transcends the normal boundaries. And Lou does a great version of it.
