FORBIDDEN FUTURE
The summer of change continues. Today's changes will be very obvious, but I feel the need to hype them anyway. Hmmm, Discipline. Not gonna do it.
It's workout Wednesday. You all should be well by now. Ut oh. Here it comes.
Your humble vagabond has graduated from formerly jacked Navy guy, to fat Daddy to gym rat to fitness trainer, to world traveler... back to chubby guy, to Covid-skeptic, to wellness enthusiast, to longevity researcher. I haven't abandoned any of those roles, least of all Daddy. And the fatty is still inside, buried deep trying to get out to exact revenge on an ever growing, never aging, leaner stronger vessel.
By the time I'd dropped 25 lbs, (of 60 I'd gained) people were encouraging me to become a fitness trainer because it was going to be one of the fastest growing gigs (back then "gig" meant "profession") of the new millennium.
Why?
Boomers of course. They want to live forever. While they were popping pills and running tread mills, their progeny were being force-jabbed, poisoned by alleged food, and chained to technology. The result; that average male in America is 38 years of age, about 5-8 and close to 200 lbs.
The lexicon seems to has changed from "fitness" to "health" to "wellness" to "well being" (which is literally the definition of "health") because the previous contenders were racist and led to "fat shaming." Fatties became celebrated and thus the rise of the fat celebrity.
Physical fitness, or conditioning coaching is not an easy gig. Not only must you have patience, you must have PATIENCE. (I do. But then again, I don't.)
Although I don't identify as a Boomer, I like the idea of longevity. Its mostly about curiosity, but as the years go by, I'm realizing it's about knowledge as well. The brain drain isn't due to people leaving a particular area, it's more about brains being drained because they're not being used.
These longevity millionaires out here are of the same ilk of those who inspired Braham Stoker. Don't tell them that their blood is already renewed every 90 days. Not quick enough. They'd sooner get blood transfusions from their kids... so they, the vampires can appear younger than the damage they've done to their bodies, trying to stay young.
It's a combination of "Escape from LA" and "Brazil" where plastic surgery runs amok. One prediction and sci-fi writers got correct. But only because they were kidding.
The 99% is the group that would gladly take a pill or a jab, or a liter of someone else's blood, rather than do the actual work & discipline it takes to reach their goals. I was part of the 99% more than once until i finally realized (there was a point where..), And not as difficult as the fraudulent fitness influencers make it look.
We present the "secrets" and the testimonials to you every day. My thing is weight lifting which was recently expanded to calisthenics. When the gyms were closed it was walking. It's still walking.
Anyway, this is a venting into to today's episode. I don't have the patience to be a trainer, or to be your coach. Not personally anyway. Maybe digitally. To be effective, you gotta care. To be sane, you gotta not care too much.
