Nth Society Writing Competition - Mistaken hero, My Entry

Segun! Segun!! Segun!!! the call of his name was faint at first, but it became louder as he woke up from his deep sleep.
"Not again segun, clamoured by the other kid"
"I am so sorry i slept off"
"I knew it, that was why i asked you to chew the mungulu leave but you refused"
"I know it was my fault that i refused to chew the leave"
"Now we will go home empty handed and the whole village will sleep starving"
"I am really sorry it won't happen again"
I bet.
Segun and the hoards of his children hunters are the best in the town of kipa where the responsibilities of feeding the small village rests on the shoulders of kids because obviously that was the most simplest job in kipa.
Since segun slept off during the hunt, the whole village will sleep without food, and the consequence will be that the group of hunters will be assigned a more difficult tasks by the community leaders.
You see, segun has made it an habit of sleeping while hunting, it costs the group to fail in their duty of providing food for the village on each occasion that he slept off, his group covered for him, because going back to the village without food will show they are weak.

But on this occasion they also were not able to kill the smallest meat in the bush, on this day segun would have been a hero because while he was asleep the biggest bull ran and past him.
"Well since we were unlucky this time, lets head back to the village before it gets dark"

Segun tried to stand up but his leg failed him and he fell back to the ground suddenly he felt a sharp pain on his left leg,he looked at his limbs and its shattered, then he remembered having a dream making a ridge with his left leg.
It turns out the bull ran and stomped his left leg while he was sleeping.
He was carried back to the village, to make a perfect excuse for their unsuccessful attempt to provide food for the village that day and so the whole village slept on empty stomache.
Segun became a hero by facing the bull without a weapon in an attempt to bring food back to the village, atleast that was the story narrated to the community leaders...
