You get a text from someone from far away, who wants to do light painting with you during a 2.5h stopover in Berlin. What do you do? I said yes and Gawa and I were playing in the forest yesterday night. Here is the one photo that I really wanted to test and ... It worked.
So what is that? Again that is 41 second a single exposure light painting. The Camera was set to ISO 100, F 7.1 on 24mm focal length. What happened in those 41 seconds? Ok this is how it went down; 1. i shine a light directly into the lens = that’s the bright white star in the middle of the Iris 2. during a full on 360° rotation of the camera (thank you Gawa) I wiggled a long fiber optic party whip hanging down in front of me = that gives you the big green Iris 3. a tiny bit of light on the forest so there is just a bit of a hint where you are. I have another picture where you see more about the environment but I like it more mystic here.

The second photo you see was actually the very first rotation test. Since I love it as well i thought i share the process with you also.

I am more and more amazed by your artworks:) In this one, i will stand a little to fact that it looks hypnotic and beautiful and a lot to the fact that it looks real. This is what amazes me at your art, the eye mandala is real, it exists in the photo as part of the enviroment. It looks as if someone opened a portal to another dimension and you happened to be there to photograph the event:) Thank you sor sharing the way you working also, it helps a lot when you see the result:)

Thank you George! Iam very glad that you see so much in this work. One of the things that i liked is that one can find that regular shape of a mandalla yet is so strongly random which is not common in the mandalas i always see. they are normally dominated by the regular patterns. A while a go we did experiment with spyrograps and the shapes that come out of that are so very strong regular mandala its also beautiful but here its a 'different world'.

One of the things we like most about your posts is the professional and descriptive way you accompany your photographs. Then, we have the magic of the edition they have... This picture is amazing and you have chosen a perfect color for it, you who are an expert to portray the night in a spectacular way, do not stop surprising us with your art.

Much success and greetings to you, from this side of the world!

Absolutely fantastic mate!!!!

Haha - glad you like it that much - it was a something i always wanted to try for more random shapes etc. thank you for your support here ;-)

You are welcome!! Everything comes from the imperfections caused by randomness!!

In South Korea, we have a novel about the Mandala, it is so famous book. I already read it three times. I read it and here I watch it through my eyes. Are you buddhist? Mandala came from buddhism. Anyway it is a great pleasure to see the Mandala made by the light. Light becomes a flower to depict whole universe, Mandala. Amazing ~~~

Interestingly you ask if iam a buddhist. I had thhis conversation with a buddhist friend and she said in many ways i live close to these ideas but i usually identify as 'human' and if i have to take sides at all i would say iam a atheist - if that counts at all ;-) after that i do respect buddhism very much because it leaves space to be human.

WOW! That is amazing! It's unbelievable what can be done with a camera and some equipment. I wonder who would have thought about it like 10 years ago :) The photography game has changed so much over the years and I love to see new ideas and projects like yours.

Very well done! Thank you for sharing and have a great day!

Glad you go 'WOW' that keeps me motivated to share more. 8)
