#ntopaz :: Macrophotography - New life, new hope

Photography has been in my wish list to learn for years and I have been thinking to get myself a good camera. But with so many choices out there, I was unsure which to get and I ended up not getting any, relying on my faithful iPhone 6.

One thing I have not really explored with my phone was macro photography. I have taken close-up shots on and off but not really learning the way to do it. I used to have an Sony Ericsson K800i which took amazing macros and I loved it. I still have the phone but the charger is dead, so the phone is kept nicely in my drawer.

Today, I decided to give my iPhone a try to see how it looks like taking a macro photograph and to join the nTopaz's "Close-up (Macrophotography) Photography or Art Contest" which runs from 03:00 on 26 July 2019 to 03:00 9 August 2019 (all times UTC) and each participant can submit up to 3 entries. This is my first entry and also my first try in using ntopaz to post.

I looked around for a subject to focus on and found these little babies sprouting. A week or two ago, I threw some purple spinach seeds from the floor into this pot and today, a number of them have sprouted - signifying new life, new hope. They are about 2 to 3 cm in height inside the pot. Real cuties.

I tried to take a closer shot but the iPhone was not able to focus too near. But I quite like the stillness of the object focused against the blurry background objects. I read through some of the online resources on taking a good macro shot using the iPhone and found a few that were pretty good. But I am still figuring the best way to focus on an object. Sometimes, when I choose to focus on an object, something else gets focused. Most did ask to invest in a good macro lens, something that I might consider 😎.

Yes I agree and how beautiful nature is :) I am also trying out chili and eggplant and I hope they will germinate too :D. Thank you for dropping by @vicent21 :)

Thank you so much @smeralda! I like the second photo too :D The little seeds are so cute. Ah ok, I will try to complete the profile. Maybe just 70% currently.. Thank you again!

Reminds me of mongo beans sprouting and they look the same during these stages. Gave me some nostalgia back when I loved planting some small garden at home. Nicely done.

Thank you @adamada :) Ah yes the mongo beans.. we usually try to grow them too as part of school's experiment :) These purple spinach seeds are really tiny though, maybe 1 or 2mm in diameter.

I love the perspective as though we are tiny creatures and the sprouts are giant. :D
Have a !COFFEEA

Ooo like jack and the bean stalk! :) I am surprised at how it turned out. I am loving my phone even more :)
Thank you for the coffea!! 💗

Yay I’m so glad you got your first entry in! Those are pretty good iPhone shots! It’s true there are tons of choices out there. I recommend you starting with an entry level camera that comes with a kit. Our Cannon came with a lot of the basic things we needed and some extra lenses for exploring! That way you can learn about the world of photography without breaking your wallet. As you learn and develop more skills then you can slowly upgrade ;)

You picked a good title for these ~

Yay! Thank you @crosheille! Ah do you mind telling which model of Canon did you get? There are so many models out there! Some websites say that we can buy add on lenses for the iPhone too. But I have not checked them out yet. Photography is fun :)

Posted using Partiko iOS

Sure! We use a Cannon EOS Rebel T6!

It’s soooo much fun!! 😃

Oo cool! Thank you @crosheille! Me looking it up :)

Absolutely! 😉
