Daphne (oil painting on paper)

in ntopaz •  6 years ago  (edited)

The new painting about the greek myth of Daphne is ready t dry and I'm happy to show you the final result!

Yesterday night I finished this oil painting on 200 gsm paper in A4 size and I'll add it on my online shops soon. This artwork was inspired by the story of the Naiad Daphne. In the Greek mythology the naiads were figures associated with fountains and the rescìh water and the story oof Daphne, even if it's a bit sad, is a very interesting story. Yoou can read about abut her and yoou can see the first sketch I made about her here:

In this painting I represented Daphne while she was becoming a plant, so I painted some delicate plants on her head instea of the hair. I painted the same plants also on her dress, while the background has a dark shades of blue.

I hope you like it!

See ya soon and I wish an happy Monday,

Silvia

Thanks!!! It's true: she looks very serious, maybe shhe doesn't lie this kind of hairstyle :P

Lovely!😍

Thanks ^_^

I love your intricate sprays of leaves Silvia. Daphne looks very solemn. Maybe it's the dark background ~ Or maybe she's not sure about whether she wants to become a tree or remain human. Wonderful artwork. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

Thanks so much, dear @allyinspirit ♥︎♥︎

Interesting backstory and very nicely done painting thank you so much Silvia

Thanks, dear Troy ^_^
