Introducing DCORP Academy — Message From Founder
Building Momentum — Start Up Challenges
Before we jump into detail, we would like to express our appreciation to our community, for their continued support and feedback during this journey we’re on together. We are proud to present the first innovation on our VC platform: The DCORP Academy.

As DCORP is a startup in a relatively new and experimental industry, it is necessary for company objectives and goals to be continually refined and amended, particularly when faced with complex challenges such as the SEC compliance communications. While every solution may not be something that our entire community agrees with, we offer reassurance that DCORP and our community are to benefit from the procedures we put in place. With proper implementations in place, we are reorganizing and growing ourselves, leaving the bootup phase behind us.

To overcome the securities complications, and serve everyone’s interests, we came up with a solution. We proposed to convert the original token into a security (DRPS) and utility (DRPU) token, compensating the utility token holders with double voting power and twice the bonus token incentives. The idea was simple, the majority of the votes in hands of the utility token holders would promote growth, while utility token holders would not yet be incentivized to vote for profit sharing, but benefit nonetheless from greater token entitlements. This solution gave us time and options. American backers would be more likely to be able to hold on to their (utility) tokens and once regulation matures, and DCORP with it, they would be able to switch to the security version. But for the time being, this led to many challenges.

One challenge specifically being the communities acceptance for DRPU and DRPS Tokens. With the DCORP Token changer live and users converting into DRPU and DRPS, there has still been quite a bit of hesitation as less than 25% of DRP holders have began to move forward in conversion. This could be perceived by some as DRPS not being available to U.S. citizens or DRPU not having a clear use case. As mentioned on multiple occasions, DRPU serves as the Utility token of DCORP and has many unique benefits, but without the transition away from DRP, the solution can not be fully implemented. A practical and legal implication such as this is very important to us, so it has led us to make choices and pivot our development effort into what was meant to be a future milestone for the VC Platform. One that really illustrates and provides the utility value of DRPU compared to DRPS.

As stated per our original whitepaper, DCORP will equip users with the tools and the resources to provide a foundation for all platform and community functionalities. This was a feature that was meant to be released many months from now, however in light of past events and current opportunities; we feel there is no better time to offer this to the community.

The DCORP Academy
The Academy will be a foundational aspect of DCORP. To inform and educate all members of DCORP and beyond about topics that are and will be relevant to the space that we operate in, the underlying technologies that power our mission, and to build healthy analysis and discussion habits in reference to projects that we fund or partnerships that we establish.

Honoring our promise to the community, we will strive to educate innovators and investors in the blockchain space. I’m proud to present the DCORP Academy as an integral part of DCORP’s VC platform. Next to this, the Academy will have an important function in marketing — sustaining and increasing the ‘pull’ DCORP has on the blockchain industry.

Token sales are still an important way of raising funds for new start-ups. DCORP wants to put its experience and collective knowledge to use and play a role as an accelerator for startups planning a token sale. The objective is clear, to educate and prepare token holders to be able to make well rounded, and educated decisions throughout the VC platform. While this alone will benefit our community directly, the academy also provides clearance for some very unique opportunities.

At DCORP HQ we get very regular requests from other companies to use our crowdsale software code, techniques and network. The idea is that, after thorough screening, the requesting company can be licensed to use our crowdsale smart contract, with small adaptations to fit their specific sale, and DCORP receives a percentage of their tokens in return. DCORP and the startup together will create an article on the concept (i.e. product and/or service) the startup will be offering, and a quiz that will test the reader’s knowledge on the concept. The tokens that DCORP will receive from the startup will be distributed among DCORP’s token holders who have successfully completed the course. The token distribution will be directly relative to the DRPU or DRPS balance of a token holder..and because DRPU is offered at a 2:1 rate from DRPS when exchanging, it by default provides twice the benefit.

Let’s take a startup called Alphabet as an example. Alphabet uses DCORP crowdsale smart contract, and in the crowdsale 10,000,000 ABC tokens are sold for 20,000 ETH. In the deal it was agreed that DCORP will receive 2% of the tokens, which amount to 200,000 ABC tokens worth a total of 392 ETH. In total, 50 token holders successfully complete the quiz through our Academy, and those token holders have a collective balance of 25,000 DRPU. One particular token hodler called Zach owns 1,000 DRPU and passed the quiz. After the Alphabet crowdsale is closed, Zach then receives 4% of the 200,000 ABC tokens, that’s 8,000 ABC worth 15.68 ETH. That’s not a bad ROL (‘Return On Learning’)….
The benefit for DCORP and its members is that the demand for DRPU increases because of the utility value it has in the VC platform. The benefit for the participating startups like Alphabet is, besides getting a boost by making use of DCORP’s white labeled crowdsale smart contract and experience, is more exposure, and undoubtedly valuable feedback from the knowledgeable DCORP community who are researching their concept.

With the platform now offering functionality in some aspects and allowing community members to register, we must remind you that everything is still in a beta phase, so some features and pages may be unavailable at times. If you haven’t converted your original DRP yet, this will be required in order to use and fully benefit from the Academy’s functionality.
