"Bodyscapes" are a popular style of nude photography. They are usually shot with low-key lighting, so a black background and heavy shadows falling on the model's body. The point is to use contours of the human body to create pleasant lines or curves. Just as a landscape photographer will use the topography of the land, the bodyscape photographer uses the topography of his model in a similar way.
Usually such photos give me a sense of serenity, relaxation and graceful sexiness. I wanted to give it a try, but to put a little more tension into it. To give a musical analogy, I want my pictures to be more like heavy metal and less like Debussy. Here is the result.
Bodyscape it like you mean it. 2018.
To light this, I had a friend hand-holding a speedlight with a small softbox on it a little bit off to the side of the model.
