Nutrition Blog #1 Why it is easier for women to gain fat and easier for men to lose it

I studied Nutrition and this discrepancy in particular, and I think the reasons are quite fascinating. Essentially women have several factors working against them: Women tend to have lower muscle mass and lean tissue than men. Lean tissue is very metabolically active and coupled with any type of exercise will essentially become a mini biochemical furnace. In contrast, fat tissue is metabolically inactive and even if you work out the areas with fat, the actual adipose tissue won't increase it's calorie burning. Secondly, hormones play a large role in how food is stored and burned. Testosterone helps promote protein synthesis and prevent fat deposition, while estrogen tends to be more fat promoting.

Interestingly, men with high testosterone are somewhat protected from type 2 diabetes due to higher muscle mass (muscle is awesome for soaking up excess glucose from the blood, think of muscle as a sugar "sponge") and testosterone directly helps promote insulin sensitivity (for more check out this link http://www.everydayhealth.com/health-report/low-testosterone-guide/low-testosterone-diabetes.aspx) So it is easier for women put on fat, and more difficult for them to lose it. As their hormones promote fat deposition and their inherently lower muscle mass burns less calories for an equivalent duration/intensity of exercise.

Yup, thats my post.

If you are new, Steemit has RoBOT police officers who patrol the website checking that people do not steal others content from other websites. There are certain rules to follow when you wish to post content from another website on Steemit I think.

These Bots are backed up by heavy hitting humans and CHEETAH is a heavy hitting BoT who has accidentally shot a few people reputations. Your Reputation is important on Steemit so maybe it might be good to locate the Rules Booklet for Steemit about proving your own content.

Sorry I cannot give you more useful directions but I am just trying to warn you to watch out for CHEETAH that bot who posted the above comment.

Welcome to Steemit, just a friendly warning and please understand there are not a lot of rules but proving ownership of content is a HUGE important RULE ! ! !

Welcome ; )

Best advice build up a lot of followers, follow people and vote within your feed to network ! ! !
My Blog posts have other new peoples ideas in its older posts . . .

Thank you for the advice I will keep that in mind. I plan on just writing about things that interest me and hopefully people will notice and follow :) The comment is linked to the reddit account I signed up with so not worried.

My advice is to start following at least 50 or 99 people and voting on their content, your success here depends on the quality of your presentations and who is in your voting block.

Nothing is worse than taking an hour to write something and never hearing anything from anyone . . .

Plus I LOVED your little story ! ! !

followed...

Will do. Thanks!
