In Matthew 20Jesus was sharing a parable about a householder who was hiring folks to go and work for him in the field, In this chapter, among many other spiritual truths, Jesus established His understanding of what it meant to own property, hire folks to work and the value of money and to whom the money lawfully belonged.

Please notice that Jesus established that the PENNY Mentioned belonged to the landowner until the work was completed and after the agreed upon exchange of labour belonged to the worker.

One could you imagine that when he agreed with them for a penny a day in the morning, that they all understood what a penny was.
Do you think at the end of the day, that Jesus would offer them something else of lesser value than the agreed upon penny? I wonder if Jesus would offer them a silver dollar to work all day, or a big copper penny and then at the end of the day hand each one a clad coin with no silver in it or a penny made of an inferior metal buy coated with a thin plating of copper?
