I mentioned that I was visiting from Phoenix. He asked me about Arizona's marijuana laws. I mentioned that it's illegal to have medicinal marijuana card and a CCW.
The driver mentioned that he has his New York carry permit. Apparently he, and a few friends all applied the day after the Bruen decision came through.
I had talked to a few friends in New York who were planning to do the same. Since I had only been to New York City, I cautioned a lot of them that Hochul would do everything to make sure that NYC would be a landmine for gun owners.
Surely, I was right. You can get your CCW in New York; but, they made every space in NYC that they could into a "sensitive area" to prohibit carrying.
I realized how myopic I was, though. I try to keep it in mind that things can change dramatically from village to village. I made the mistake of treating New York as a whole. No, NYC is a hell hole. When you look around Buffalo, you realize that the same restrictions that they made in NYC generally don't touch areas like Buffalo, even though the same laws apply.
The Bruen decision was a step forward to begin with. Fascists like Hochul and Newsom will keep trying their best to abridge our basic rights; but, it's only easy for them to do that in metropolitan areas with a dense population and a lot of public transportation.
