So long James Randi. Knowing that you were 92, I started dreading the day that I would hear the news of your passing. Of all the people and things that we've lost in 2020, losing you hurts me the most.
Picasso once said that art is the lie that forces us to see the truth. Your life was the embodiment of lying honestly. Did you prove that psychics, mediums, and the paranormal don't exist? No. But, you made those things look unlikely enough to chalk them up as impossible and to allow reasonable people to approach these claims with proper skepticism.
You exposed evil and lies wherever you saw it. Every person whose life wasn't destroyed by people like Sylvia Browne, John Edward, James Van Praagh, any wealth of faith healers, or homeopaths due to your contributions made your life more than worth it. The number of lives and livelihoods saved by your crusade make your life incalculably valuable.
I'll be watching An Honest Liar tonight and I'll cry, not because you would want anybody to feel grief; but, out of celebration of one of the most important lives ever lived.
