Why Objectivity Is A False Paradigm

in objective •  8 years ago

It is not uncommon in current days to aim for objectivity.

Objectivity is both impossible and undesirable.

I am not saying that subjectivity is the goal.

What also goes with objectivity, oftentimes, is the black and white thinking that either you are objective, or subjective. There is no inbetween.

If objectivity is the goal, then you would want to be at all times fully objective.

What is it to be objective?
It's to consider the situation from a "standing back", enlarged viewpoint that sees more than your current, busy, presumably self-reflective viewpoint, one which might not correlate with realty.

Reality is that which exists.

That begets a question:
Don't you exist?

The importance of that question is that if you exist, then you are, or are part of, reality. How then can you contend that you are not objective - that you exist?

Yet, it is not about your physical body that you speak, but about how you view the world. Aren't you the subject, here?

Would that mean that your view of the world is objective (your body) and subjective (your mind)? Or, objective-subjective?

Can you have a body without having a mind?
Can you have a mind without a body?

And then consider the focus of SJWs:
Everything is subjective.

This denial of the existence of common co- creative reality - physicality (their aim is to maximize emotional comfort, a mental attribute) - means that they are operating with a subjective-objective mindset - subjectivity is the goal.

Going toward either full objectivity or full subjectivity is a denial of how we have both a body (physical, objective) and mind (mental, subjective).

To aim for full objectivity is to theorize your existence... out of existence.

To aim for full subjectivity is to aim for material comforts at the cost of destroying everyone and everything around you.

You might find my post about objectivism interesting. I just authored it a few hours ago, and was scrolling through and I found this.

I disagree with your reasoning, however. You said that it may or may not correlate with your existence. I think objectivity is about facts. And I personally do subscribe to black-and-white models. Clearly defined rules, lines, or morals can be used to navigate any grey area.

Once again, just my opinion.
