OpenLedger Launching OCASH: Crypto-ready Payment Card

in ocash •  8 years ago  (edited)

Crytpocurrency has quickly become one of the best ways for people to create distribute wealth. Exchanging that wealth into real-world goods, however, has always been a bit of a sticking point.

The OpenLedger DEX, which uses the @bitshares platform, aims to streamline the process.

From {Investopedia}(http://www.investopedia.com/news/openledger-launches-cryptoready-payments-card-ocash/):

One of the latest of such projects is OCASH— the first all-in-one crypto-ready debit card. OCASH will bring the international card payments system to the OpenLedger network. This will allow token holders to use Stablecoins (SmartCoins), including bitUSD, bitEUR, bitGBP, and Rubles, plus other OpenLedger tokens, such as OBITS, BTC, and ETH, to purchase items anywhere major debit cards are accepted. The OCASH will allow the payment and withdrawal of any kind of cryptocurrency supported by OpenLedger, making currencies accessible anytime and anywhere.

Having my bitUSD available when shopping at my local grocery store. Being able to use my OBITS to purchase shoes at the mall. Buying Papa John's pizza with my OPEN.STEEM... it's a fun new world.

I've been tempted to use a service like Bitwala, but this seems like a much easier process if it turns out.

“We are witnessing the birth of the biggest shake up in financial history with the introduction of our crypto-ready payments card, allowing instant withdrawal and POS payments,” said Ronny Boesing, who founded OpenLedger and came up with the OCASH idea.

OpenLedger is targeting the end of August 2017 to launch the first phase of OCASH, with the timeline finishing over five months.

Not all of OCASH's features will be met with approval, however. On OpenLedger's telegram channel, Ronny Boesing mentioned that all OCASH users holding the card would have to be validated, due to international law. Privacy advocates won't like that, but it may be a small hurdle for most users.

Look for more info to come from OpenLedger in the coming weeks.

This is excellent news, thanks for the heads up @nepd! :)

Thanks for reading @cm-steem - a bit off-topic, but is Katie's Pool still paying out? I'm a bit out of the loop in the GRC world.

This is good news. I've been holding off on a crypto card as well -OCASH connects my card with bitshares which is a win win.

Interesting but I don't get why this is better than BitWala. Could you explain that, please?

using debit card on ethereum network - mähh takes too long
using debit card on bitshares - pfuscchhh I'm in
nice

Thats really cool! I hope that it is available in the US. A lot of the coolest money services don't want to deal with the USA with our stupidly restrictive laws.

Looking forward to this!
