One of the greatest protests ever happened in the history of India is the just concluded 'Occupy Marina.' With the intention of safeguarding the cultural heritage of the land, thousands of students entered the world's second largest beach, Marina to mark their voice of dissent. Almost a week-long protest went off well and achieved its intended mission of lifting the ban for the traditional sporting event called 'Jallikattu.' Misunderstood by the people from rest of India, and the court, Jallikattu is not the event to harass the animal. Here, the bulls kill humans. Unlike the blood-thirsty Spanish bullfight, where the men kill bulls. At the end, instead of winding in a happy note, due to the police arrogance, violence erupted and teargas and lathi charge happened. Police invented the theory of 'non-existent anti-social element' to support their claim of attacking the innocents. Keeping aside this sorry episode, the protest is the eye-opener to the politicians on how to conduct the disobedient movement on the mass scale. I am (i hope everyone) really proud of our students who registered their non-conformist attitude in a democratic fashion which is laudable. In the annals of protests, this occupy marina holds a pivotal place due to its 'leaderless' agitation. Great...great and great....
