Until today I hadn't found the moment, nor the inspiration, I was looking for to write a new post. Any casual writer knows first-hand the masses of words that end up scribbled in a notebook and never, ever see the light. Maybe because it's not the time for them to come out, or perhaps they need those neverending adjustments that we can't seem to know how to make.
A couple of weeks ago I began to read and understand the real sense of this platform and how it actually flows; as a kind of alternative scenario that develops and evolves as a living thing. This platform of exchange of ideas and creations, deployed in a variety of varieties, opened the door to one of the possibilities of producing our own base of knowledge, culture, and news.
In this great self-supporting system, we should be able to find valuable or relevant content quickly. The search filter should be accessible, and thanks to the standard evaluation criteria, readers with different interests, should be able to find something enriching almost instantly.
But the gold fever is endemic. "Gold isn't real money," then, "gold is worth more than money," then, "we are starting a revolution because we are fighting against inequality." These are some of the many graffiti that remain at the bottom of the walls, behind circus posters, pamphlets, stencils in the shape of marihuana, soccer teams ads, or letters inside a heart.
90% of all Steemit money belongs to 4% of the users. Sounds familiar, right?
Of course, nobody would be so naive to deny that the motivation to write in this space is money. And as scouting ants that have found a promising booty, we started working on it. On our way, we diligently notified everyone how to get to the treasure, so the network begins to unfold. Soon the trend starts, the path is carved, all the ants are avoiding the same obstacles, following the same curves, without asking, only warning and working.
Some ants have many active accounts and use them to auto-vote empty content. There are also those who buy texts from other users because they can't think of a new meme anymore. Or those who conspire to flag everyone who knows some shady activity is happening around here and they dare to write about it.
Many of the people who have stopped using any of social media platform have done it because they thought they were wasting time looking at a screen all day, disconnected from the world and those around them. Now, they do the same thing in Steemit, but with the anesthetic alibi that was needed; money.
Of course, the change is in sight. So are the replicas. The truth is that nobody knows what is right, but just in case we do, we won't stay silent.
