Beautiful booths at Benguet's Adivay 2019

in ocd-resteem •  5 years ago  (edited)

Here are the photos I took from this year's Adivay booths in Wangal, La Trinidad. This better than last time I attended. Booths are bigger but still claustrophobic. I hope they will give them wider and spacious area next time to build theie booths.

There are 13 booths in total representing the municipalities of the province of Benguet.

The booths have their own landscaping as well not just the nipa huts that served as booths.

Atok repurposed old shoes as pots for plants.

I went there when the crowd was the thickest so it's a challenge to time photos to not include as many people as possible.

Landscapes were models of what can be seen in each town. Photos of tourist spots can also be seen in some booths.

In the booth of Buguias, they labeled things with how they call it in their language.

There were even items reminiscent of the war.

Benguet is an agricultural province. Therefore, fruits and vegetables are the main produce as well as flowers and potted plants.

This is kiniing or smoked pork meat. This is the traditonal way the meat is preserved.

These skulls of animals are used as decorations, sort of trophy collection. This is a common thing here in the Cordilleras.

Gongs or gangsa and drums or solibao are also sold in some booths but Mankayan had the most. These are used in canao, a traditional dance that is performed in rituals or any other life events.

The booth of my town, La Trinidad, had these musicians entertaining visitors.

Sablan is a land of many fruits but this time of the year is not yet fruit season so there were only few in display, mostly rootcrops and vegetables just like every other booth.

Tublay has the most display of woven materials.

I missed a few booths because the crowd is getting thicker by the minute and each booth is crowded. I should know better next time to go there during weekdays.

Each booth aside from the crops also sell handmade products like wines amde od strawberry, bugnay, rice, sweet potato, etc. There is even a small designated wine drinking in each booth. Visitors are welcome and perhaps encouraged to drink. There are delicacies, sweets and chips. Coffee and tea of different varieties can also be found here.

I look forward to what next year's Adivay will offer.

Crowded means the market is sort of getting popular.
I guess that means it's good.

You are right. More people, more revenue 👍
