OCD DAILY - Issue #187
Welcome to the 187th issue of @OCD Daily!
Issue #187 highlights content from ten (10) Steemit Content Creators! The OCD team continues its search throughout Steemit to find you the undervalued gems, as provided by relatively new users.
Today our curators found you ten new pieces of original content! We strive to find works that are provided by newer Steemit users, that may not have the audience which their quality content deserves. @OCD strives to help provide that audience, and intends to showcase Steemit users who put in the extra effort to create creative, original content.
A curator will FIND a piece of work (typically from newer users). Within 24 hours that piece has been submitted from the curator to the @OCD team, votes are tallied, and the pieces with the most votes are placed into the compilation.
We encourage you to visit these blogs and to show these great Steemians your support and encouragement.
All of the content as chosen by our curators is undervalued, but there is always one piece that rises to the top. That piece is seen as universally appreciated and valued making it OCD’s Top Nomination of the Day.
Using systems thinking, @evomimic has produced a flowchart that diagrams how the entire ecosystem of Steemit works in one image. The post breaks down the flowchart for you, and focuses on two of Steemit's sub-systems: 1) Mining and Currency Creation and 2) Currency Trading. Thanks to @gniksivart for curating this post that will be very useful to new Steemians.
Next up, @saywha has curated some breathtaking color photography of the Joshua Tree, captured near Hidden Valley in southern California. The sky was beautifully mottled, the result of a wind storm that had kicked up a lot of dust, creating what @zenithwombat describes as a "diffusion effect." The photos are gorgeous, and all were taken with just a cell phone camera!
How to define freedom is the focus of the next piece that @jznsamuel found for us today. Initially, @sagescrub saw freedom in having his own business. But ultimately, he was in denial about various aspects of his different career paths. Getting divorced and being laid off gave him a new sense of freedom and pushed him in new directions. He shares in this post how he faced down many fears, is looking for balance between his online and offline lives, and how he finally escaped from the rat race!
In Venezuela, there are no safaris, so many people may wonder where the popular phrase in Venezuela, "to kill a tiger," comes from. Without giving away any spoilers, we'll just say that @ylich explains all regarding this phrase that's probably most common to musicians. Thanks to @mk40 for curating this interesting and etymological post!
Next, we're treated to another entry in @anomadsoul's hometown contest, as we take a tour of Montreal with @lymepoet. The tour includes photographs of Chinatown, the Biosphere, the Biodome, the Olympic Stadium, and the Old Port Area.
Our next post features a piece of traditional ink and markers artwork created by @johnfist and curated by @m31. The detailed process used is laid out with many photographs illustrating the evolution of the work, the result being an incredibly colorful and vibrant piece entitled "Expect Resistance."
The "frozen beauties" in the next post from @mindscapephotos refer to the Scheidegger and Hasenreuter waterfalls in Allgäu. This post was curated by @jeanpi1908 and it takes us on a photographic tour of this beautiful "geotope." The moving water is captured in a softened blur, probably the result of using a very slow shutter speed. Don's miss this frozen walking tour in Bavaria!
Next up is a Whale Wars cartoon, curated by @howtostartablog. In this post, @wanaf not only describes the artistic process, but illustrates it with its own animation! The subject was inspired by WWII fighter pilots, but the end result is a dolphin that shoots miniature torpedoes on a striking red background.
In Aceh, Indonesia, the traditional way of planting rice paddies is still used and @dilimunanzar gives us an informative look at how it's done. The post, curated by @geke, shows that although farmers in this area of Aceh have been left behind technologically, they are able to produce a small livelihood through the old fashioned methods involving human labor and local wisdom, which is always an important factor. The small wages, though, don't allow for the purchase of time-saving equipment.
Finally, we turn our attention to a love story shared by @hundredlbsbeauty. This was a long-distance relationship; she lived in Manila, and her beau lived in Baguio City. But when her boyfriend agreed to take a job even farther away, in Japan, their love story became more of a "misadventure." Thanks to @futurethinker for curating this bittersweet love story.
We hope you were able to take away something different, fresh, and new from these content posts, as provided by the @ocd curators.
